<<<<<<<<<<<<THAT STUFF IS OUTDATED NOW. LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE THREAD FOR MY NEWEST QUESTION>>>>>>>>>>>>>
(This message has been edited by Mister Spiffus (edited 02-24-2000).)
The Miranu have few enemies, since they're mostly peaceful traders. If you want to boost your rating with them, just keep fighting renegades. The Miranu are neutral with regard to the strands; the Zidagar are only around most often because their worlds are nearest to Miranu space.
Also, note that the Gunship missions are not available at Mirava, but rather at Outpost Zachit. You have to join the Zacha first, which requires a "Dangerous" combat rating.
Third, stop using EV-Edit NOW! It can do very bad things to plug-ins without any input from you; I hesitate to think what it might decide to do to the EVO data files...
Glenn
PS: Dump the freight-courier for something better; if you don't have enough for a true warship, try an Arada or a Lazira. They are both quite good mid-range ships.

I don't want to hunt around with EV-Edit quite yet; do I need a better legal status there, and if so, who are their ENEMIES? The Zidagar seem to be in the systems a lot, so should I blast the Azdagari or something to make the lower Miranu systems happy? The ones near the north tip are happier with me as they have more pirates up there (which I blast happily with my freight courier that somehow has 26,488 tons of free space, though it still says 50 in EV Edit (I can't complain:D ))
I would recomend using ResEdit just in case. EV-Edit has a nasty habit of trashing what it opens sometimes. If you do use EV-Edit, I'd recomend keeping a backup of your data file. I would also recomend not labeling anything as important. Not that I care, but I've seen some pretty annoying posts regarding the use of "important." As for the cargo space, did you use a plug-in recently, and bought an outfit unique to the plug? You may have never sold it before you went back to the normal game. Anyways, I'd reccomend an Arada as the next ship you buy. It will help a lot to increase your combat rating. The Miranu aren't affected much by the strand war, so killing Azdgari and Igadzra won't really help.

OK, I've gone through all (?) of the U.E. missions (i.e. I've destroyed the dreadnought, done the Needle Jammer test and bought a cruiser (or is there more?)) and I'd like to get involved in the upper-galaxy missions. How exactly do you "join" the Zachit? Bar mission or something? If so, where? (I can't find the system that has Outpost Zachit in it)

If you want to destroy pirates and the lot, then get the Arada. It combines good speed and great shield recharge, and with lots of weapons and engine upgrades, it's the best fighter I know.
"How exactly do you 'join' the Zachit?" - from Mister Spiffus
To join the famous Zachit Patrol, you need to have at least a Dangerous combat rating and a Decent Individual status. After you've accomplished this obstacle, go to the Zachit Outpost, in one of the systems surrounding the Miranu homeworld of Mirava (I think the outpost is a couple jumps northwest - it's on the route going to Blaga (far northwest) if you leave from Mirava).

I gotta get registered!
OK, I accomplished a lot, let me bring you up to date here--I got a UE Cruiser quite a bit ago, found Outpost Zachit and joined them, after completing the Miranu nebula exploration missions. I've gotten as far as destroying the voinian dreadnought in UE missions--where can I go next in UE or Miranu space to continue the Voinian war or nebula mystery stuff, respectively?

You can either go look for the other race, on the other side of Voinian space and finish off the UE string, or you can go finish the Strand Wars string. That is allying yourself with one of the three strands and ending the war.

If you want to know about joining the strands, then here's where to go:
Igadzra: Kitrak Zidagar: Pozdag III Azdgari: South Tip Station

Wait a sec---I've completed the missions up to the point where I'm done exploring the two nebulas; that's it. Where do I go to get started on the mission that leads up to the Miranu Gunship appearing?
I can't remember the exact steps for aquiring the Miranu Gunship, but you can find some good info on the strategy and mission guides at the EVO Weekly site (sorry, I forgot the URL).
I'm confused. Which ship is the one that has a high shield recharge rate and costs about 1 million credits. Is it the Azdara or the Arada?
Hi, it's me again. I'm wondering about the relationship between the different Strands. I'm pretty sure the Zidagar are enemies of the Igazdra (spelled right?), and that the Azdgari (this, too?) are allies of the Igazdra, but I'm not sure. Also, which Strand would be the best to become allies with, without becoming enemies with the Miranu? Thanks.

They're all at war with each other, and the Miranu just don't care about the war. And you spelled them correctly.

As for allies, for the last reward you'd get it'd make sense to side with the Igadzra, with the Igazra warship (500 point shield rating) most likely being your ultimate reward. The Zidagar don't look too fantastic, but it seems that the Azdgari would be the best--they have a warship slightly above that of a Crescent warship, and SUPER spiffily recharging shields on their fighters.
Thanks for the help.
Gekko
Well, the relationship between the Strands is slightly more complicated. The Igadzra and the Zidagar are at war with each other - with deception, fleet engagements, and the like. The Azdgari raid them both, not attacking with large fleets, but with small raiding parties. But Andrew M pretty much got it right: they all hate each other.
