Xichra's Lair- Little Help?

HELLO!

I just got to Xichra's Lair, and I was real excited until I found out how hard she is to beat! I want to do it with out ferazedit, so any tips would be great! Thanks a lot.

Ok the "official" way to beat Xichra is flinging fire/ziridium seeds into the cannons so that they hit Xichra. But that's way too hard. So, here's a few tips:

1. First, make sure you've got maxed out fire/ziridium seeds (You did rescue Dimbo, right?)

2. After you've hit Xichra a few times, she'll start to fall to the floor every time you hit her. When she falls, the impact will stun you, just like the Goblin Chief's jumps did. So, try to be in the air when she lands. While she's on the ground, Xichra's temporarily vulnerable to everyday stuff like spells, so zap her!

3. Smite rings hurt Xichra, if you've got a few. However, you may want to save them until the end of the battle, when she starts flying about at warp speed. Note also that when she's off the screen, they don't have any effect.

4. Finally - this is the biggest help, but it amounts to taking advantage of a bug in the game. If you jump over the left cannon, you can climb the left wall as if it were a "tree trunk". That is, hold left and you'll run in place, "stuck" to the wall. Jump up and continue running, and you'll gain a higher foothold. Do this a couple more times, and you'll then find that you can move to the left onto a hidden platform that's just off the edge of the screen. Once you're here, you can stop running and turn around. From up here, you're safe from objects that fall from above, most of Xichra's fireballs will miss completely, and with the right timing, you can jump and rain destruction from above.

This last is, however, a bug in the program; the programmer did not realize that the wall could be used in this way, as it's meant only to keep you from leaving the level. If your scruples prevent you from using it, good luck. You're gonna need it! 😄

I have found that Xichra's fireballs do still get you at least half of the time, but they are easy to deflect with your shield.

Great instructions Glenn . . . thanks! 😄

I'm digging this up to keep frustrated newbies from starting yet another "How do I beat the queen" topic.

Time for yet another dig of this topic.
I think a link to this should be put in he FAQ.

Hi there,

I'm simply stumped. I rescued Dimbo, got the full stock of red and blue seeds and did battle with Xichra. Four Rez necklaces, seven rings of smiting. I used the platform that's a bug in the game, jumping down between rains of terror to chuck seeds in the cannons. Even after the entire supply was depleted, I was still getting red spiky balls tumbling down, and Xichra was still flitting around.

I tried using an escape ring after exhausting my arsenal and re-arming myself at Jimbo's, and then continuing the battle, but you basically start over if you try that – Xichra's back at full strength.

Am I missing something? I'd say I had a 50 percent accuracy with the seeds hitting Xichra. How many hits does it take to knock her down and keep her down?

I want to know how the story ends.

Thanks,

Patchen

After she starts to fall down after getting hit, you have to attack her with ordinary attacks, such as spells, to kill her.

I recommend using FerazEdit to get 99 smite rings.
That's the only way I can beat her.

I hate it when people make spelling mistakes in there signiture.

Aschaaf, you wimp! My brother beat her fine without ferazedit! And had a spare rez necklace at the end! Goes off to listen to the music from the game Cya!

Actually, I beat the queen and I STILL want to know how the story ends. 🙂 But if you still have troubles with dodging stuff and all, consider:

  1. Turning ON virtual memory to a ridiculous amount

  2. Activate any extensions that won't crash the system

and possibly 3) Consider a motherboard downgrade so everything's a lot slower.

It also makes the Parched Earth race last for a good half hour if you do it right. 😉

Seriously, though, I didn't need to use the cannons much either, or the buggy wall. The queen will hover a bit lower if she starts her hover-cycle-fireball-preps when you're on the ground and not on the platforms. Hop on a platform and fire away, but there IS the likely danger of getting fire-seed blowback from the explosions.

That happened the first few times I tried. It works a lot better if you icewall her when she's down. I think I was still using zirid seeds when I finally got her. It might be useful for you to try improving your accuracy. In the red stage you can normally get her twice on one side, then she flies over to the other side and you can get her twice again. Keep repeating that and icewalling her when she's down and you should have no problem.

P.S.
If you jump to right above the left cannon, and keep facing left, you can stand there and the spiked balls will miss you. You don't even have to keep moving.

Hope this helps!
