Where are you, Tim? Help!
OK guys... I need your help on E3:Endgame. Especially Tim, if he can be found (and I think he replies in time- he takes his customers very seriously!). I need help as the title implies. I need help in getting the bloody %&@$!" mission Cry Havoc IV to finish. This frigging mission just wont work. I tried the escorts. Lots of sittings, for weeks. Bored. Abort. Try it myself... blah. Reduce it to 6 ships with ResEdit (I think). Still a lot of ships. I reduce it to 3 ships, 1 per wave with MC 3.32. It worked! Only 1 ship in defense fleet! Except... I cant get them to submit. Demanding tribute a second time doesnt get them to submit, instead they send ONE ship AGAIN. And again. Aarghhhhhh!
Ahh! Somebody fix this! Send me a .bin.zip with a defense fleet that is 5-10 ships and IS what it says (does not grow when finished and press again tribute to get them to submission). Or something that changes the mission to a blow-a-fleet up one. Change the next mission to not demand that you have dominated it.
And yes, I can get emotional as long as: a) my message is clear. It is, as always. b ) I am actually annoyed, but far from what the text implies.
I want to get a RusCon Dreadnought... each time I see them, I look with envy....

Are you using the most recent update for E3? If my memory serves correct, this sounds suspiciously like a bug that was dealt with in one of the updates. Your best bet is to abort and use your last pilot backup file (hopefully you've been backing your pilot file every now and then?)
If that still doesn't work you can always use ResEdit to modify the mission bits to ignore that mission and take you directly to the next one in line.
It is possible to buy one depending on whom you fly for.

Tim

Yeah, those are really good. I loved mine...
Man, I wish those plugs were ported. I loved E2, it was my favorite.
General Cade Smart, I'm playing Realm of Prey now, and a similar thing happened.... the station I was to dominate only sent out one ship, and never allowed me to dominate it. Ever. Even after aborting the mission. Totally frustrating. So, I went back to a saved pilot and got rid of all my escorts. That seemed to work the trick.
I hope you got it worked out.

The one-ship thing has to do with limitations in the Escape Velocity engine. It only supports a set number of ships in your urrent system at any given point. Having escorts that carry fighters while attempting to dominate a planet that uses fighter-carrying ships for defense has occasionally tipped the limit for me (Especially in EVGE). Once all the available slots are taken up (there's 36 by the way), the defense fleet can only launch one at a time.
There is a bug in EV, however, that seems to prevent the planet from launching it's lone defender at you unless you re-demand tribute. Keep it up and eventually you can destroy every defender one at a time. It takes for ever and sort of feels like cheating.

If you manage to destroy all ships in a defense fleet simultaneously, they stop sending ships until you demand tribute again. Quite useful when you have to stop and rest your shields.
It also makes dominating planets with one ship per wave tedious.

Yes, I am. Version 1.2. To boot: I vaguely remember downloading the updater first. (before or along with the plug). And I had it in in the plug folder before I started. I had one backup... but it already had the mission! I dont much backups since the plug isnt TOO hard and doesnt really make me afraid of failing. I have some kind of idea of how to edit ResEdit but dont know exactly why, since I havent written missions. Is it: make the availbit 9999 (or something else unused), then raze the availbit from the next, and remove the legal status that requires it to be dominated. There is a second problem, too: What is the name of the next mission?
<cursed unobservance. I thought I hadnt posted it when I hit back from profiles and I double-posted.>

@general-cade-smart, on Mar 19 2006, 06:00 PM, said in E3- Impossible to dominate Battlestation 112:
The next mission campaign is COLONIAL DEFENSE.
Let's see, starting up Schmelta-V mission editor (wow, that brings back memories!) and checking CRY HAVOC IV, the sole object is to dominate the battlestation. Technically you don't need to do anything, as the mission parameters are empty with the sole exception of the two escorts that follow! In theory you could simply accept the troublesome mission, hyper out of the system, return to the RST and you're done.
As this is apparently causing troubles for others, I think I will simply change that mission around so that you just fight a defensive armada to 'make way for an invasion force' or something to that extent. I'll upload an updater to both Ambrosia and my website in due course.
My apologies for the troubles this is causing.
