Finally!

The Rather Long-Awaited...

BOOZERAMA PLUG-IN!

...in alpha stages, of course. There's no way I could still be sane if I had finished it by now.

In a post to the Boozerama Bar thread:
"The plug is coming along swimmingly. I finally got it working, and for normal EV. None of the pers are in it yet, except me, because I did it to test the Res Edit interface (it's been a while). I have EV Edit, but it makes it so much easier to do certain things. But then it screws up my plugin, and then I lose a half hour's work. So yeah. Go get the beta:
http://www.freewebs....ome/evplug.html
I added a new ship, the Dreadnaught Class Corvette (from Independence War). It barely outperforms the Kestrel. Barely. A little more space, and a little more speed.
Tell me bugs, suggestions, what you think, etc. Oh, and I urge you to travel down south towards Pirate's Cove...there's something lurking there..."

Here's how it's going to work:

The Plugin - Status:
Alpha

Governments:
Boozerama
Party Poopers

Alliances:
Boozerama - Rebellion
Party Poopers - Confederation

Systems - Planet(s):
Nowhere - Somewhere Else (you had to be there to get this one...Jimbob was!)
Boozerama - Boozerama

The Party Poopers are from Nowhere, and the Boozerama are from...well...Boozerama.

I added a new ship:
The Dreadnaught Class Corvette. It just barely outperforms a Kestrel, and for much less...only for this alpha release (I'll jack up the price when it's all done, I just wanted to give you all something to play with). If you want to take on a Confederate Cruiser, you're going to have to be just as careful as in a Kestrel. More weapons space, more cargo space, more speed, more shield and recharge, and a couple of new weapons, as well as a rather inaccurate (to be revised) shipyard description, and a REALLY corny escort hire description. The ship looks way out of place, too.

Um...the new weapons:
a rear-firing Particle Beam Cannon (Proton turret restricted to the rear quarter) and a forward-firing one. If you've ever played Independence War, you know how this works.

The landing description will get longer, and the bar description will get shorter. I'll turn part of the bar description into a mission, or something...it just NEEDS to be there.

BEWARE: Boozerama and Nowhere are not places to venture lightly. They are EXTREMELY dangerous, but very money-rich places. Pirates, Party Poopers, Merchants, Confeds, Rebels, Boozerama, Traders...lots of death. If you get there in a shuttlecraft, you will be instantly destroyed. The Party Poopers are almost as bad as pirates.

The way I have it planned is this:
The Boozerama Residents are an off-shoot of the Rebellion. The more party-inclined side of the Rebellion. The people need entertainment, so the Rebels gave it to them. The Boozerama Resident fleets just keep the peace.
The Party Poopers are an off-shoot of the Confederation. They are a little more strict than the normal Confederation kids. They're bullyish, and they are rather extremist. The Boozerama Residents don't like them because they like to crash parties. And believe me, you'll see this firsthand going to either planet.

I have to modify the Party Poopers' planet to seem all strict, and crappy, and I'll copy Jimbob's post into the landing description, if it'll fit. The bar will be boring, and there will be very little interesting to do there, except that I plan to put in party-pooping missions (i.e. you walk into the Party Poopers' bar, and they ask you to help them crash a party at Boozerama for pay, etc...)

The Boozerama missions will be cool stuff like running party supplies, and the confeds and Party-poopers will try and stop you, and maybe I'll put in a mission about starting another party planet...who knows? I swear I'll make the new planet (if I do it) REALLY cool looking, ok?

Alright, that's it for now. Bug reports, inclusion requests and comments/suggestions here:

I'm currently adding missions.

So far, I've only got one in...but it involves phantompenguin. He gets kidnapped. Yeah.

The download link isn't working. 😞

I already gave up hope for a Boozerama plug... I mean, I forgot about Boozerama plug before you posted.
I second DE. I only get a 8 byte file which says EV-Edit when looked inside. Why did you use that horrible program? Its known for bugginess. If you want to get a easy to use editor, get Mission Computer. EVONE is even easier, but less stable. Fix the link.

I have a suggestion: add a mission involving me! Like, me fighting DE. It would be the part hitting a Weather Storm on DE. Heres how it looks like: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/scree...t_screen002.jpg
Because of the new features of the Nova engine, you could make a lightning beam that would be VERY devastating (because thats whats it is, just not as much as a Nuke). Just like the Wraith weapons.

Yeah, life you would have a chance against the R.S.S. Destroyer E! 😉

God help us if it ever comes to fruitation...

Don't forget, kids! I'm no longer running Nova. I'm running Mac OS 7.5.5 on a Quadra 700/900 ROM under Basilisk II. I can't run X, and can't get anything requiring a PPC or greater to run. Does EVONE or Mission Computer work on OS 7.5.5? EV Classic, real old school, you dig? (lmao). And I realise that EV Edit is big crap. I got that bit a long time ago, but it's the only way I can edit certain things for certain resources in the plug.

If anyone wants an EVN port of it, I'll do it in the EVN:Classic universe, and It'll take me another long while. I have EVNEW, but it's the only Windows editor. I could do the plugin making on a Mac, but I can't get Nova to install (not my mac, school's), for reasons higher up the chain of command than a Student Tech Assistant knows. Oh, and I can't find a crack file for the Mac version (Oops, did I say that? I SWEAR I'll buy the game when I have a job. REALLY. I'll buy Nova for PC, and I'll buy Nova for Mac, and Classic for Mac, too.)

So, yeah.

I got the mission done. It works pretty nicely, though I'm still having interesting issues with the whole mission bit thing. After completion, the mission goes away, but the next tim you land, it's back, and it shows the completion string again. Any suggestions?

I'll look up EVONE and Mission Computer, and I'll see if they work for OS 7.5.5. If not, I'll have to stick with buggy old EV Edit, and ResEdit (which i love dearly, but it just hates me i.e. not letting me edit parts I REALLY need to edit.)

so...I'l see if I can get the download to work (it worked for me,I tested it...what's wrong with all of you? Oh, and I don't have StuffIt. Is it free? I only have expander. If stuffit's not free, then I can't stuff things, sorry.)

Oh, and I'll keep working on the plug, of course. And other stuff. Fun!

Later!

<EDIT>
EVONE is out of the question, sorry. Besides the fact that it's aimed at Override and Nova, there's no way in hell my emulator's going to run it. My mac at home might, but that'll have to wait until summer (I got Mac OS 9 on a beige G3 upgraded to G4 400 MHz. Will not run OSX well at all. My dad tried. It works just fine when it's booted up, but installation hangs 3/4 of the time, and after it's installed, it takes 15-30 minutes to start up fully. I just want my dad's dual G5 tower, and/or a Mac mini (actually within my grasp, this summer...if I get a job, which s unlikely because of how hectic my schedules are...most employers wouldn't want someone only capable of working for 3 weeks in a row, and then never coming back.)
</EDIT>

<EDIT>
Oh, and Mission Computer is for OS8 and above. Guess I'm stuck with ResEdit and the EV Bible Annotated Edition (the annotations are SO very helpful, you have no idea...without them, I'd be screwed, and relying on the formula calculator program, which is wrong 90% of the time, I discovered (by cross-referencing it with the Bible. That sounds rather amusing. "The report that monkeys turned into humans through a process of natural selection and evolution is preposterous! I cross-referenced the scientist's findings with the Bible, and the scientists are wrong. They only spent their whole lives researching these things, and the Bible hasn't changed, been annotated, or updated in several thousand years.")).

Boy was that a confusing run-on paragraph... Ready for another?

Too bad, I'm through for now.

Thanks again!
</EDIT>

<EDIT>
Oh, I'm gonna try and run MissionComputer, anyways, because the website says it might work, so I took the old and the new, and I'm gonna see how it goes over...
</EDIT>

<EDIT>
Mission Computer works. It's pretty. Just like EVNEW, but probably better. Thanks for mentioning it, I completely forgot. Such a lovely, helpful community. Thanks to Professor ADN for setting me up with the emulator to make this possible.

Wow. I just have to look at it, not even really use it yet (I opened the mission, everything makes so much more sense), and I love it. Thanks!

Ohh, now I feel good. I have helped someone. And also, now I know Mission Computer works on emulators. I havent earlier dared to try it, even if ResEdit is awful in user-friendliness.

Oh, and word about EVONE: it stands for Escape Velocity Override Nova Editor. That means it does edit EV too. It does not reguire X, look: http://www.ariossoftware.com/products/ So you dont need to install X on your home Mac. No, I am not saying that you should use it instead. Im just showing that its another possiblity.

Oh, and there is a PPC emulator. PearPC. http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/ Download link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pearpc/...32-sdl-jitc.zip
The bad news is that you need a other OS :S. You need Darwin, X, or Mandrake Linux 9.1 for PowerPC . So I hope your dad still has that X CD.... The website recommends that you install Darwin first, but you can skip that with a thread I found from emaculation: http://www.emaculati...opic.php?t=1102

So yeah. If you want to do easy development of plugs, stay with Basilisk. If you ever need PowerPC emulation, get PearPC.

Did you try to be amusing in the part where you will be stuck with ResEdit and EV Bible Annotated Edition? Because I laughed when I read you will be stuck witth, and when I saw that the formula calculator is wrong 90% of the time, I laughed so hard that I had to stop reading the post, and go to sofa to laugh. And I continued there. If you did, you have succeeded.

I can't install PearPC here, anyhow. School-owned laptop, and very pissed off tech members if I installed another OS than Windows. I used Talisman once , but then I switched back, for fear of them finding out. And they could have, too, they just didn't look at the right time. Now I don't have to worry about it, but still...just to be safe. And the install blocker requires Admin password to install stuff like PearPC, unless it's a special installer that bypasses that (I LOVE those kinds).

I wasn't trying to be funny with the being stuck with ResEdit and EV Edit, but I'm glad I amused you, really.

I found out something rather interesting...the new version of mission computer is broked...it likes to empty all contents from any mission I make, and then not exit, so I have to close the emulator (bad for the HDD image), and then run the emulator again. The old version works just fine, though. The new one would also habitually empty out ans STR# resources I edited. So I use the old one, all is good, and the mission works quite well (I tested it myself). One problem, though: when running he mission, I get to the destination system, and my friendlies that randomly appear there (Boozy guys) kill the prison ship that you're rescuing phantompenguin from, and that sucks, because then I have to self-destruct and go back across half the galaxy...doesn't take long, it's just annoying.

So, yeah, all is well, and I'll see about getting StuffIt and stuffing the plug into a .sit and put that on the site, instead.

Oh... I thought you did... you had such special wording.
Very odd indeed. Must remember not to use the new one on emulator. Do you mean 2.2 when you say old one? So have the prison ship to be a neutral IFF, or make the Boozy guys for that system such weaklings they cant destroy it (like Scoutships and Couriers). I saw this part in your earlier post: "Oh, and I don't have StuffIt. Is it free? I only have expander. If stuffit's not free, then I can't stuff things, sorry.)"

Well, its like this: the newest Mac one Standard Edtion, reguires X. Not good. Version 7.03 reguires OS 8.6 - 9.x. Still not good. The Windows version 7.5 can be be gotten free. But I dont know if it stuffs Mac-compatible files as well as it uncompresses them. Then theres StuffIt Lite, with old emulator compatible versions... Youll have the least headache, really, if you just use DropStuff that comes with the emulator. Just drop the plug on the application, and it gets stuffed.

DropStuff didn't come with the emulator. Thanks, though, I'll keep an eye out for StuffIt Lite, and/or DropStuff. I can't get the Windows version of StuffIt anyhow, because it won't install without an admin password.

Thanks!

Weird. For some reason, I have it, dating back to March 2003 (4 months after I got the computer). I dont even remember how I got it... Should your search for DropStuff prove hopeless, ill .bin my install to you (luckily the amount of files is small). No, scratch that, ill send you a premade file.

Actually, that sounds really nice. I seriously can't find an old version, especially not one that's free.

If you're going to send it to me, here's where to send it:

I got it loaded on the net, finally...and it should work okay, too...It's a special .sit-ised file, full of magic...explosions...of joy.

GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT!

Available while supplies last.

Another update is expected in...whenever I'm all alone and doing the plug, and not hanging out with my girlfriend, or sleeping, or doing homework, or playing Worms World Party, etc.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Please submit bugs, inquiries, and requests for inclusion as a pers resource to:
