I like to turn the sound off in EV so I can listen to iTunes in the background, but even when I have the sound set to Silent, it is still louder than iTunes. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes. Every occurance that I've turned the system sound down, it hasn't affected EV's music and volume level. Same applies to Override.
Before I had system 9, however, I don't remember having this problem. That was years ago though.

I've turned the sound off in 9 before. It's only since I put Realm of Prey back in that the sound wouldn't turn off, but installing a plugin wouldn't affect the sound.
I've come to the conclusion (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that EV's volume control actually affects the system's overall volume. I havn't had any success finding a workaround. There's one sure-fire way to do it, however. Crack open the EV files in ResEdit and remove all the sound reference fields for weapons, etc... Delete all the ambient noise sound resources (Hyper select, Startup Music etc....) or replace them with null sounds (Blank sound resources) and EV will no longer have sound associated with it. This could all be done rather easily using the plugin architecture so you wouldn't have to actually modify your EV resource files.

Yeah, I've also noticed that...my EV sound level always affects the system -- including my PC system if I'm running it under emulation. AJ's plug-in approach is definitely a nice one, but what I do when I listen to music is just use the volume control on my music player (Winamp in my case) but crank down my system volume. I'm not sure if that'd be a good solution in your case though, since I like to still hear some of my EV sounds.

It does nothing to the sound whatsoever. I can still listen to iTunes, though just barely because the game sounds are so fliggin' loud.
Same problem. Except I don't have iTunes on that computer (unfotunately) so it doesn't really matter.
