Webboard name: Kyle Katarn / Captain Skyblade Real Name: Joseph Payne Reason: Captain Skyblade was a nick I picked up ages ago from family. Where it came from, I have not the slightest clue. I still prefer my old nick over Kyle Katarn, and the only reason I switched was because of criticism regarding the post count. I'm still cool with "Skyblade" - call me that and I'll buy you a Dr. Pepper.
Kyle Katarn comes from Dark Forces (an ancient Star Wars game I've played since the early '90s); a mercenary character. He never really became popular until the Jedi Knight series was introduced.

Webboard name: Luke Real Name: Luke Reason: I could say I chose Luke because Luke is a very famous sci-fi character and the boards are generally populated by people with a high geek factor, but the real reason is that my name is actually Luke and I was an unimaginative dolt when I registered nearly two years ago. Some say that this has not changed. Draw your own conclusions. Either way, I like my name.
On AIM, battle.net, and IRC my name is Qkrnxtl. The reasoning behind this should be quite obvious, as qkrnxtl is the phonetic spelling of Luke.

webboard name: nighthawk amtgard persona name: taaveti real name: craig reasons: nighthawk was the call sign of my first (and, by some miracle, most successful) pilot in ev all those years ago (don't remember why, i think it was just the first thing that came to my mind and sounded even remotely decent at the time). when i started coming to the boards, it seemed logical to call myself nighthawk. as for taaveti, it was a vaguely acceptable (although, in retrospect, too hard for others to remember/pronounce- probably why kie still calls me tit faerie after four years) elvish name. oddly enough, after i chose the name taaveti and the race elf, i found an elf named taaveti on a magic card. Webboard Name: CDRCoyote Real Name: Nyle Why CDRCoyote? Well because when I first came up with this name it was for a game called Total Annihilation, and I happened to be very interested in war at that time, still am,, but that is how I got CDR, which means Commander, and then I got Coyote from the fact if you add a few letters to my name and you get Nylie, which is pretty close to Wilie Coyote from the Looney Tunes. That is the history of the Great CDRCoyote's name.
I got the name for my website CDRWerks from Commander from my name, and then I put Works after it, and then changed the o to an e to make it sound cooler.

(AIM name: OldCrankyGranny Real name: <classified> Why OldCrankyGranny? Well, one of my favorite passtimes on AIM is simply destroying stupid chat rooms. In order to be most effective in the destroying of the chatters' morales and confidence, I decided to get a screen name that truly struck terror in the hearts of all the little perverts and morons in AIM chat rooms. And "OldCrankyGranny" worked fine for me. The idea of an old granny in a chat room just doesn't strike many as something normal. This allowed me to talk about discusting revolting things that have driven many away from the chats. I find it most effective.

Username: I've had too many to count in the past, but now I usually stick with phantompenguin Real Name: Josh Lee Why, phantompenguin? I honestly have no idea. My recent obssession with penguins was peaking at the time and I stuck the word "phantom" in front because I like the idea of... Actually, I honestly have no idea what I was thinking at the time. I have vivid memories of a hampster screaming. I alos my remember my username originally being "PenguinReaper" or "PenguinLord" or something like that, but phantompenguin came along and stuck... because it didn't require me to move my fingers towards the shift key, therby giving me less work. That's the sole reason. Really. (Alright, not really, but once again, I don't remember the true reason. Do the math)

Username: General Cade Smart Real name: Tom Runeberg Reasons: When I joined the boards becuase I had a question I couldnt answer myself, I needed a user name, but couldnt think of one. Because I had played Nova then already ( had done since first days of July), I chose my name to be a Nova reference. The Nova History Preamble says Cade Smart was the only one that could save the Feds from being destroyed by Aurorans because of the previous generals bad tactics. So its honororable.

Starkiller In September, I registered a new Yahoo! e-mail address because my English teacher wanted everyone to have one. I came up with "starkiller" because it's the name of the Luke Skywalker character in some earlier drafts of Star Wars and I thought that it sounded need (I actually used gdstarkiller as my yahoo ID - starkiller was taken). When I joined the webboards a few months later, my usual internet name for websites at that time (theKestrel) was ALREADY TAKEN (I hate you, GlueBubble). So I decided to use Starkiller.
hawk Gavin means "hawk" or "little hawk" in Welsh, or some old language from that area.
imposter The first time I joined #ev, I was banned because I had the same ISP as someone who wasn't welcome on the channel. However, my nick had been "hawk" so they assumed that I was the apparently famous Skyhawk, so they unbanned me and welcomed me. However, once it came out that I wasn't Skyhawk, someone labeled me an imposter. I switched to that name, decided that I liked it, and kept it.
unspecified I have a couple of unspecified names that I use occasionally. One refers to baseball and a political philosophy, one is a Star Trek reference, and one is derrived from a college football team. No, you're not getting any more information.
