The entire galaxy was destroyed the radiation will destroy chances of life on the nearest 3 galaxies. The research on radiation shows that the causes were anything but natural and were probably caused by a new weapon of mass destruction. Paranoid sighs takes a Hammerhead and goes back, odds of survival 9.897*10^2000 to 1.
