What do you think is the weapon you work the least good with.

Mines. They're a really fun addition, but to use them you are required a different kind of thinking compared to the other, more straighforward weapons.

I think I work the worst with my primaries (unless I've gone into the plug/data and "fiddled" with the numbers). I do my best work with my secondaries, usually torpedoes for larger ships or those that also fire torps, and missiles for smaller ships.

How so? I'm curious because the primary weapons are my personal strong point. I hardly ever spend money on secondary weapons with limited ammo. Sooner or later I'm stuck with my proton turrets/cannons anyway.

Sure you can, it just takes some practice getting used to the acceleration.

I agree wholeheartedly, gostdog! Primaries rock! The only secondaries I regularly use are Tractor Beam, and fighter bays (Manta, Patrol Boat).
Edit: Oh yeah, mines. I love mines.

I actually am quite bad with fighters. I always forget that I have them, or give them some suicidal order. When I think to, I scrap 'em to make room for more something else.

Same with me. I hate secondaries. Except the forklift hehehe.

Well, I don't mind using my primaries when they can do the job. What I do is open up either the data file or the plugin and work on my torpedoes and missiles (by lowering their reload time, increasing their damage ratings, and setting the "type of ammo" to -1 (unlimited) thus giving me, in effect, a torpedo/missile machine gun with unlimited ammo). I also upped the damage rating on the particle beam amd set it to use no fuel. After that I work on my ship (increasing its shield and armor ratings and lowering the shield recharge). I don't think of it as cheating since whatever I do to the ship (usually a Kestrel) affects all Kestrels. Also, since every ship that can fire missiles/torps "makes use" of my "reworking" of the weapons' specs. I do however look upon use of the forklift as "kind of" cheating, even though with rework it sometimes takes more than one or two shots to take down an opponent. Right now I'm working on the Terran side of "Empire" and have been given the "destroy Weave escort carrier prototype" mission. Well, I found the escort carrier just fine, but, for some reason, it's not only cloaked, but its shield recharge must be either 1 or 0, because when I first targetted it, it's shields were "-100." After blasting at it awhile, it went directly to "100" and never wavered from there. Now you can't tell me somethings screwy here. I've done this mission (without the plug, just the regular ol' mission) and never had this much trouble. I went at it with my particle beam and proton guns firing, and only then did I get to see what it looked like. It was sort of like in the movie "Forbidden Planet" where the spacers see the "Creature from the Id" only when they're firing on it. All the other escort carriers I've seen are like they are supposed to be-upgraded Sauridian freighters-and also very easy to kill.
That's great and all, but imagine that your datafile and plug-in folder were both locked. Then what? I'd say that's a lot more interesting
I really don't enjoy cheating in a game. You don't evolve as a player through cheating. Suppose I have my obsession with vs. fighting games to thank for that...
I hate torps, I just can't use them effectively.

I love speedy wepons. The only secondaries I can work with are The Tractor Beam, The Particle Beam, and Javelin Rockets. Any other secondary I simply can't use.
I never use fighters (they are too weak and the bays are too heavy). I occasionally use missiles if I am on a mission where I get swarmed by lightnings, defenders or similar, but the only secondary weapons I use regularly are javelin rockets ( reinforcement for my primaries) and torps (shoot off eight or ten as you close on a frigate or something, then by the time you start turreting it it is at 40% shields anyway. )

Fighters too weak? Hmmm, I don't agree. First of all, with a fighter you have virtually unlimited missiles. Second, they are excellent at keeping unwanted ships busy so you can concentrate on your mission objective.
I can't use the fighter bays at all. I think that they just die too easy. Theres 2 million credits down the drain. I use torps they have good impact and also long range. If am about to attack a ship which is better than me, I go far away then turn around and face the ship. I pick up some speed and start shooting my torps. I match my speed with my torp so I have a cluster of them all in one point. When it hits the target a lot has been taken out. I think I went of the subject.

heh, same here. I have never been able to use fighters effectively. I use that same torpedo tactic. I have yet to master it however(i will end up with a line rather than a ball).

I love heavy rockets but I usually fire it belowme and match speed with it so i have a bank of them slam into my enemys.

I'd have to say slow-firing and slow-moving primaries like the neutron blaster and the mass driver. They're still fun to play with; I'm just bad at using them.
