How many missions should it have?

How many missions should a scenario have to be a good scenario.

Hmm, i'd say 17 good ones (per gov). And i mean GOOD.

Well, I think it's obvious that you need more than one. EV has 255 mission bits allowing you to write 255 linear missions. I think somewhere between 1 and 255 is your best bet. Just make sure they're quality missions with a good storyline and a solid plot. If you write 255 POS missions, nobody's going to care about your plugin.

Enough.

Ask a vague, ambiguous question and get a vague, ambiguous answer.

A "total conversion" scenario which attempts to create a completely new universe should probably have 200 or so good missions, including the basic cargo and passenger runs that get a new pilot started. An add-on scenario should probably have at least 20-30 new good quality missions to make it worthwhile to play. More is generally better, but as others have mentioned quality is more important than quantity. Missions should have some surprises for the player, things he has not encountered before. Missions in a string of related missions should generally get progressively more difficult. "More difficult" does not necessarily mean a series of battles against tougher opponents, but missions that stretch the player's piloting and puzzle-solving abilities in new and different ways.

As ghostdog said, quantity does not equal quality...to an extent. If you have the best-written mission in the history of EV in your plug, but it's the only mission, it will be no good. Take Tim Isles' new plug-in REALM OF PREY, for example. He is one of the best mission writers I've ever met. RoP has 220 new missions, and they are all GUARANTEED to be truly l33t. I have a list of all of the missions. If anyone wants the list, email me.

You are right but wouldn't haveing alot a missions make it sound interesting. But that still true that qauntity doesn't equal quality I just hate it when I spend time downloading a download that just bores me.

The problem with a lot of upcoming and existing plug-ins is that the developer (who still should get credit for at least trying) hype it up with statements like "over 200 missions, new graphics" etc. et.c, but when you actually play the game, the story, presentation or the general feel of the scenario is outright awful. It takes a certain skill and sincere devotion to be able to combine everything into a really good scenario.
Personally I'm very skeptical everytime I hear about a new plug. There's just too much junk out there.

There is also a edit feature that comes in handy.

Well my most recent topics that are locked technically aren't spam but they were locked because they were either in the wrong location or the discussion went off the subject.
