Mission String Help

Hey, is it possible to play both the confed and rebel strings on one file? Also, where do you trigger the tractorwhatever-theother-is-called beam strings? Can you get either before taking on the alien cruiser? Thanks!

Yes, you can play both. The trick is to get one mission at the beginning of a major string, then get the other before you finish the first. The beam missions are part of each. (Tractor, Rebel; P- Beam, Confed). They each can come before or after the Alien.

Think your sig is quoteworthy? E-mail me your quoteworthy message to the world and I'll put it in my AIM profile! If I like it, that is. Ok, yeah, I'm desperate, big deal. Just gimme some quotes.

O.K. Thanks! I don't think I have started either yet. (I spent a long time yesterday looking to find them.) I have another question. I read somewhere the location of the Alien Cruiser and Fighter missions were random. I thought this meant the location would change everytime you land on a planet, or everytime you jump or something. Later on I found they stay in one place.
My question is, I also read that the Rebel and Confed strings location are on random planets, (On random confed stellers and so on), well is this location totally random, or does the game pick a location for where the string will start at the beggining of the game, and you just have to go there and hope the mission is given to you?

No, it's completely random. Whenever you land on a planet that's within the right parameters (example- any planet not belonging to the confederacy) it has a chance of coming up a certain percent of the time- whatever percentage was specified by the mission resource.
