Why do you need more players? The Confeds/Rebels get 8 or so fleets either way, you'll just be controlling more directly this way. Less inferior battlefield commanders to dilute your self proclaimed best webstory tactics.
Admittedly, it might be a little more fun for the big governments with a couple other players, but still...

The independent systems are not meant to be equal. In the Cold War, if we treat the US as equivalent to the Confederation and Russia as Rebellion (or vice versa, doesn't matter), then are all the little independents - Britain, France Germany, Australia, South Africa, etc. - equal economically, equally desirable? No. Nor should all the Independents in EV. I compiled this data based on statistics and planet descriptions from EV Data. In general, I think it more or less correct, though if you see any specific problems in what I worked up I'd be happy to change it. However, anything from the game is valid material for this, so they may be other factors that can be used. You'll notice I took Diphidia, despite a near absence of industry. It has a few special factors that I intend to make use of. If you look, you might be able to find that anywhere - to be honest, I don't know, I just know Diphidia fit what I wanted to do in this. 3. I really don't want to see ships that are being used regularly in fleets upgraded, i.e. picking a certain class to be upgraded across the board. Modifications like that have killed a great many stories on this board, and I'd prefer not to add to that list. Now, I have absolutely no problem with an upgraded player flagships, and a couple of special ships here and there upgraded for special purposes. I intend to have a heavily modified Scoutship for special use missions as part of my fleet. **
Good answers -- I've got it now, thanks. <throws away a little nonsense about "Gryphon" Lightning fighters and "Phoenix" corvettes, decides to use other areas> <grin>
Mac, I'm open to be shifted around. Just tell me what you want me to play, and whether or not you want me to die (I often play sides that lose; RoC, RoC2, RoC3). So...Confeds? <winks> Sorry, RMA, but they took the upgrades off us, and without my Gryphons I can't play pirate domination.
Asriel; very nice of you to advertise me, bro, but I wouldn't really be up to that anyway, you know. Mac's right - this seems too huge for a moderator.

I, for one, HOPE we get more Rebel players. These webstories are difficult enough to find the time to manipulate a single fleet. My schedule would be grossly overwhelmed trying to manage multiple fleets.
...Either that, or the quality of my posts would be severly degraded. (And my "post quality" needs all the support it can get.)
C'mon Velociteers!!! Join the As Yet Unamed Webstory starting soon.
I could be a rebel player, but all I will not be able to write often until the 23rd at five o'clock pm. Whose my chief?
As for the title: An EV Story...nah! but EV Rumbles is nice and has some punch.

I still really don't see a point in the points (heh...). I'm just going to use common sense. I'll try to be very reasonable. If you think I'm being unreasonable, just tell me and I'll make my fleet a little smaller. Ok?

Okay, since aliens are out, can I be the independent commander of Propus?
Also, how will this webstory work with money, credits, building, fleets and all? I don't exactly want to look through this whole dang topic.

More players just seems natural for the primary governments... I guess this is all simply a matter of opinion. I'll gladly run the Rebellion with 2 or 200 players.

So, we seem to have two Confeds and two Rebels now, good.
For Skyblade and Karl - my suggestion on organizing this thing would be perhaps to take two fleets and one sector each. One of them would be your personal fleet, which has your upgraded flagship, while the other would be a "sister fleet" that works in tandem with it, if not necessarily in the same system, a fleet that you order around and probably have an NPC Admiral through which you run it occasionally, when necessary. The other 4-5 fleets would be left as sector defense fleets, which mostly remain in limbo, kicked around as necessary by Captain Skyblade to deter or repel Confed invasions. As more players join - or if one of your main fleets gets wiped out - they can be switched to the direct control of the new player/player with a destroyed fleet. The Confederation could use a similar system. This way, you would be able to fight a large number of fleets effectively, while still focusing the attention of your writing on primarily one character, one fleet.
And BTW Karl - I tend to think you're one of the better writers that participates in these things, IIRC.
NDJ - Rebels would certainly be a good position, that will work fine. I'd suggest if you'll be unavailable frequently for the next week or so that you wait and join after that, though. There won't be any problems with people joining in the middle, and I know one thing that has frustrated me in the past as a government leader is players who aren't available to move their fleets once a day or so.
Luke - should be fine. I'll let you know if you do something nuts, so you know not to do it again.
New Players - Espona is put down for Cydonia, Carno has Propus.
Add Carno - I'm going to be posting a revised list of that soon, as soon as I can get it worked out. right now, I'm going to compile a list of players, make an updated version of the guidelines (calling them rules just doesn't seem appropriate any more), and update the map with what's under who's control. Hopefully, I'll get my first post compiled sometime tonight and we can start tonight; if not, then tomorrow for sure since there seems to be a concensus, more or less, on the guidelines being basically agreeable.

Mac: Sounds good, although there will probably be times when I have my fleet completely united, and other times when I have it split into very small sections. It will all depend on the battle situations.
Another question I've got (and you've probably answered it and the post escaped my attention): Do we buy new ships on every new topic page (as we did in the later BFS webstories), or have you set a specific time when governments are permitted to do so?

Mac, you're a mindreader! I was just signing on to ask someone (with a better memory than me) to compile a roster / map / etc.. Way to go!
Please can we start soon? Also, can I sell my industrial points to people for economic points?

Not a problem. When I post some udated guidelines in a bit, they duggest an average fleet size of 25-30, but you can certainly combine two or three for a major offensive. I just don't want to have battles with 800-1000+ ships in a system like some of the larger battles of BFS III. Too hard to figure, even with familiar tech.

You can buy ships anytime your fleet is at a non-enemy planet with industrial points. So, if a fleet stops at Palshife, you can buy ~4 points worth of ships there. Then you could go to Clotho and buy 4 more in the next post, if you want. Whenever the money and ship parts are both there, you can buy.
Originally posted by Shade: Please can we start soon? Also, can I sell my industrial points to people for economic points?
Tommorrow afternoon at the absolute lateset for start, I promise. Hopefully tonight, I'm just not sure I'll have time to compile everything (mostly my first post) in the time I have left, as I probably will be spending a few hours at the library working on a cursed research project. I hate fourth quarter...
As for your industrial points, not directly, as they are associated with the planet, not the government, but there are ways that you could go about doing so. For example, if you open up your shipyard to anyone to buy ships there, I see no reason why, if a Rebel task force drops buy and purchases a squadron of Rapiers, you shouldn't get the cash they spent doing so. You might also be able to come up with some sort of contract service, where you could build a few ships for someone and then escort them out to the fleet that will be receiving them. You can't just hand them off to be used wherever - the shipyards do stay on your planet, after all. But you can certainly work out ways to put them on the market for anyone who wants to buy from you.
Now, for the current player list:
Captain Skyblade Rebellion President
Kaptain Karl Rebellion Admiral
SilverDragon Confed President
RMA Confed Admiral
Espona Cydonia President
Macavenger Diphidia II Minister of Defense
Luke Astex Defense Corps Head
General Rak Zaxted Prime Minister
Vice Admiral Ipvicus Darven Administrator
Shade Yemuro Prime
UE Admiral Jadzia President
BariSaxGuy5 Deneb III President
Captain Carnotaur Propus Independent Commander
If I missed anyone, let me know.
