Well, my totally uninformed opinion based on what others have said is that only the 68k mac can be emulated, no newer ones are available. So I would imagine that yes, you would need a ROM from a 68k Mac to emulate one.

i have some questions about exucuter. is it free. does it need a rom file. how badly does ev run on exucuter?
Again from what I've heard, Executor is free, but it runs EV nowhere near as good as the emulator this topic is about (which I foolishly can't recall right now... I'd say it sucks to get old but I'm not even old yet!) I've heard there can be much slow down and stop-go action with executor and that this emulator is far superior
exectuor is not free, actually quite pricy if you aren't a student. It doesn't require a rom, but it runs ev terribly. Choppy, crashes, bad stuff.

Well, I guess thats what happens if you try to speak on something and you have a handy combination of bad memory and no actual facts or knowledge. ( I am of course referring to the fact that I said Executor was free)
the problem is that i can't get a rom file. i don't have access to 68K macs, and i don't have $400 laying around to buy an absolute mac to play ev on. iwould rather play ev choppy than not play ev at all. isn't it ture that executer is free for 30 days and then you have to buy it to continue using it? are there any hiiden charges? unless i can get a rom file thats the only way i can play ev.
Yes, you can play executor for 30 days.
The tutorial now has a section showing how to install original EV onto your mac. It runs much better than EV:O on there, almost feels like you're on a mac while you play it.

I've downloaded hgv explorer 3 times now and every time i try and open it, i get a blue screen telling me that and illegal error occurred and i should shove my head up my ass. (not exact wording) What gives? what should i do?

same with me, except bilisk II won't play pog, maybe because pog require PPC and bilisk II only emulates a 68K, you will need ifusion to emulate imac.

Seriously though, you can buy one for that cheap. I used to run EV wonderfully on my Quadra 700. EVO is "ok".

exeucuter, i used that before to ran EV until i got bilisk II, executor cost $185 man! you better NOT buy it, i recammand you get bilisk II, as for the rom, if everyone else think is ok. I have qudra 900 rom, 1MB, i can send it to you. first everyone must agree first so i don't get karma slap.

You can't download Mac OS 8.5, at least not legally. The newest version of the Mac OS that's available for free is 7.5.x or 7.6, I forget which. The easiest way to get Mac OS 8.5 is to get someone who's upgraded beyond it to give you their disc.

O thats simple I used it on my old mac. It started to become handy once I discovered it

Macbeast (you any relation to Warbeast?), I had no problem d/ling hgv explorer. I'd be happy to send it to you if you would like (via e-mail). That's how I moved some of my files from my prior computer to the one I use now, by adding them as attachments to each e-mail. BTW: I've got a new Compaq 5301RSH w/ Windows XP (fantastic computer!). Take a look at what I wrote about it in a new topic. BTW: I still need to know what files should end up in what folders. Warbeast's tutorial isn't too clear on that subject. I still have my iMac G3. I wonder if I could get my rom file from that, and how would I do it? What about the software install and restore disks that come with the mac? I dunno if you can help me, but thanks, anyway!

executor will crash you right out when u press "Y" key while playing EV and EVO
