Skyblade - Minelayer is a toughie. Once again, I have a ship that really has nothing comparable. If I'm reading you right, those mines pack a wallop, though. Two would kill an Alien Cruiser. OTOH, they don't move. Very difficult to assess.I would probably have to say 25 mil, but I'm quite open to debate on that, if you'd like, since I'm not really sure how to price those mines.

yes but thouse mines would give an un fair advantage agents the Aliens because 2 to kill a carrir(sp) well then the aliens need a equal weapon that inflicts that kind of damage. Also its the controler of the weapon that decides which ship it hits and of course they would destroy the larger ships thus killing off most of our chance of surviving an attack.

Equal Weapon: Drill Bombs. Besides, warfare is all about unfair advantages. For example, my tactics give me an unfair advantage over the Pirates, as they don't seem capable of stopping me, and indeed often walk right into them. 😉

I think it would be more difficult to decide which ship a stationary mine hits. I could certainly deliver them in a method that would cause a couple to hit a specific ship, but probably lose the minelayer in the process. In general though, it would be more random, and they might just take out some fighters.

Actually, what I had in mind was mining a system before a battle or engagement (not during the thick of the action). They'll always be there until something hits them...

Also, these things throw shrapnel everywhere. Widespread damage to even dispersed fighters. A hit against capital ships would be less likely to damage surrounding vessels.

Actually, I factored in the ~5 million extra for fighters already, but again I really don't know what I'm doing. Shipyards won't get updated until tomorrow anyway, so I can sleep on it. 😉

I know, but all possibilities should be considered. Since fleets can rearm at will while in-system, perhaps we should establish a limit, of say 100 mines per system?

Maybe you could just make mines cost money? If you made every mine cost 50,000 credits it would put a nix on going totally our of proportion, while still leting them put plenty of mines around.

I was thinking the speed of my frigate to be average for a capital (which means relatively slow if I understand correctly).

Average for an Alien capital would probably be around 150, so we can go with that. I'll go ahead and leave it at 20,000,000, and the Minelayer at 25,000,000, for lack of a better idea.
