Reread my post - I edited it and increased the surviving defense fleet and defense fleet size dramatically. I also knocked off one of my and one of Carno's Cruisers. I think the losses are now much more even.

OOC: According to Mac's last post, all posts regarding the Battle at Dreden are now void. We're going to have to start this from the beginning again... Vice Admiral Ipvicus's fleet is now back in Velburt system, preparing to attack Dreden. I'm going to start assembling the defense fleet now. First, I'm going to wait for Mac to make a final price on our most recent ship...

Geeze, you guys are already giving me more headaches... the battle at Sentarus Prime should be essentially void, since that's the Alien capital now, to my understanding, and they pick the defense fleet.
Skyblade - I'm sure you can do without it. You Dreden are already way over the limit on new tech anyway, so why don't you hold onto that for a couple of pages? Technically, you've used up your entire ship research for this entire chapter (5 page topic) already. I put the tech rule in there so I wouldn't have to update the shipyards continuously.

"This is it, boys. Go and stomp those Imperial jerks!"
Fighters and warships of the 101st sped toward the battle, their guns blazing. The Imperial defense fleets were beginning to think victory was possible against the two combined Human Confederation fleets, but Skyblade had other thoughts. His fleet moved forward at top speed, with green clouds of plasma fire shattering enemy fighter squadrons. Skyblade couldn't think of anything better than a site like this. While the aliens hoped Dreden would fall, their own capital would go first...
By the time the 101st arrived, the HC had done most of the dirty work. The Titan Liberty's trinity cannons focused in on one of the damaged carriers, and fired away. Just as one of the HC Enterprise Battlecruisers stormed the same target with its impressive firepower, the neutron beam split the carrier in half. Similar to what had happened to the original Liberty Battlecarrier, the two gigantic chunks crashed into ships of both sides.
The superior firepower of the alliance was proving devestating. The Empire couldn't hold on much longer...

The last few days had gone by Azdara Ace in a blur. The most recent news he had received was that the 101st had left, attacking the Alien capital at Sentarus Prime. The 36th would be right behind them, but Azdara Ace decided to wait for confirmation to aid the attack on Sentarus Prime first. He didn't want to make another mistake like Stornik.... Azdara Ace messaged President Skyblade asking if he was to reinforce Sentarus Prime, and then sat back, awaiting his orders.

Game over guys, check my post in discussion. congratulations.
The Alien Empire surrenders to the Dreden Rebellion.
------------------ Go Red Sox! Down with the Yankees!
Current situation: All attacks on the Dreden and Sentarus Prime system are now void. Back to square one.
Both the 15th and 59th alien warfleets are currently in the Sentarus Prime system.
The 5th alien fleet is currently in the Valburt system, preparing to assault Dreden.
The 101st Dreden fleet is in Exerd, along with the HC fleets.
Both of the Human Confederation fleets are in Exerd.
The 334th, 36th, and 42nd Dreden Warfleets are in Deus.
That's where we are now. Please don't post objections, as things previously got really out of hand...

We've established contact with our friends from the Milky Way, and are planning an assault on Sentarus Prime. That is all, and be quick. -Commander Skyblade-
"Orders have been recieved, Admiral."
"Excellent. And they are?"
"We are to proceed immediately to the Exerd system, from which we will attack Setarus Prime, after grouping up with our allies."
"Okay, Mr. Alexander, please take the fleet to Exerd." Azdara Ace glanced around his bridge. It was different than the old Titan. The old Titan's was much sleeker, and also bigger, it had much more sensor equiptment and special things that Azdara Ace didn't even fully understand. The bridge of the Verdica was much smaller, was still fairly sleek, but did have a very nice feature. Its actual bridge window was much larger, allowing Azdara Ace to see more without relieing on sensors.
The Dreden 36th Warfleet Division entered hyperspace, heading for the Exerd system.

Admiral William Branson is the commander of the 1st Elite Force.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Admiral Branson was well aware of what was to happen. He was a veteran of thirty years of hard fighting, and his military performance often passed that of the most accomplished commanders. He knew that it was up to him to stop the incoming Imperial fleet, and he was well prepared to do so. Skyblade was counting on him to protect the entire Dreden war effort. Loss of this battle would have devestating results.
Branson immediately went to work on his well-planned tactics. He devided his forces into three groups, all with a excellent firepower. The two carriers were in the center group, next to the minioutpost and the planet Dreden. Half of the fighter force was involved in this center group, along with a moderate number of the new starwraith-armed destroyers. Group left consisted of a Titan Mk. II, which commanded a small number of Destroyers and large number of fighters. Group right was located behind the planet of Dreden, consisting of the same forces as group left.
The Minelayer went to work... It devided it's mines into four primary fields (whose location I shall not tell :p). 25 mines made up each of these mine fields, and they were placed in such a way as to discourage attacks from any direction. They were also placed in such a way that should the Dreden feign a retreat, they could run their enemy directly into one of these minefields. It was this time that the new mines would prove their stuff. A few hours later, the Dreden system was heavily mined. The black masses of metal, filled with huge amounts of explosives, were ready to inflict serious damage on the capital ships and fighter squadrons of the oncoming Imperial force. These magnetic and computer-programed explosives would prove a vital role.
Branson commanded the Wind of Freedom. His center group formed an inverted arrow formation, with his ship in the back of the arrow. The fleet fanned outward from the arrow point. Large fighter squadrons composed the edges of the arrow formation, and their highly-trained pilots were ready for the day they had waited for. Every fighter pilot of the Dreden defense force had the rank of Commander or higher, and had served in the Navy for twelve years or more.
Now, everything was placed exactly where it needed to be. This could possibly be a losing battle, but the Dreden were content that their hard efforts would pay off. They were depending on one another...
Vice Admiral Ipvicus: By the way, if you'll take this battle slow and not destroy everything in a single post or two, I'll do the same.
I thionk you'll have to grant them a quick battle, as the Aliens did have this planned out. However, each side has to get their say, unlike before.
Mark looked grimly at the tactical report from the Dreden, which stated that the Aliens were quickly closing in on their capitol. That meant only one thing; attack their capitol, and attack it now before they have a chance to defeat the Dreden.
Opening a comlink to the Dreden 101st fleet, the veteran admiral spoke quickly. He had been in many conflicts and wars, and he knew that time was the one thing which sometimes helped you in war, but sometimes forced you to take quick and decisive moves.
"Admiral Skyblade, I say that we attack Sentarus Prime immediately. We have two of your fleets here, and two of mine. We can't wait any longer. If we can capture their capitol before they capture yours, we won't have to worry about them.
"My plan is actually two-fold. Your fleet and my two fleets will engage the Aliens in Sentarus, destroying them and capturing the capitol. Your 36th Warfleet, on the other hand, will journey through Sentarus, only stopping to quickly send off a wave of torpedoes, rockets, and missiles at the Aliens.
"The 36th will then travel towards Dreden, trying to get there in time to help stop the Alien fleet. But if we are to do this, we must do it now."
7th Fleet and 16th Fleet refueled, rearmed, and restocked. Currently in Exerd system, preparing for attack.

"101st and 36th Dreden Warfleets are ready for battle, Admiral. Would you prefer the Dreden fleets warp to Sentarus Prime first, or provide backup cover? I believe the second choice would be better, as our plasma weapons prove devestating from long range."
Mark thought for a moment before responding. "Yes, provide artillary fire from afar, unless we need your help close up. However, I want you to send your 36th warfleet towards Dreden now before it is too late. In the meantime, I will start the assault with my two fleets."
Closing the comlink, Mark ordered both fleets to hyperspace into Tarkard. They only stayed there for a second, however, and then hyperspaced out into Sentarus Prime.
Immediately the 16th fleet charged the Aliens while the 7th Fleet moved into a circle formation that surrounded the Aliens, then they slowly charged in as well. A wave of Hammerheads and Devil Rays delt an amazing amount of damage to the Alien fleet with their space bombs, and this was followed by a strike of HALO Missiles and Heavy Rockets, both of which had splash damage and worked well against clusters of ships.
During the battle, the lone Skyblade Frigate the 7th Fleet had was hit hard by a wave of Seeker Drones, and as a Heavy Fusion Beam tore through its hull armor, the vessel spun out of conrol and rammed an Alien carrier, which was the flagship for the 15th fleet. The Carrier was heavily damaged, and now had to be carefully protected, or else it would soon die.
The HC fleet charged in, tearing apart the Alien fleet as they waited for the Dredens to come in...

Alien Defense Fleet ? - Unknown ship amount
OOC: Next defensive post, the Aliens have to say how many ships their defense fleet has and how many ships the 59th fleet has, or I'll choose myself.
The 101st Warfleet exited hyperspace, and was greeted by the fury of heavy fighting. Although the alliance seemed to be winning this first engagement, Skyblade had a feeling that an Imperial counterattack would arrive in the nick of time...
Azdara's 36th Warfleet jumps from Exerd to Tarkard - Sentarus Prime (unloads torpedoes and plasma rockets) - Sten - and now currently refueling and refitting in Calais. If Azdara doesn't get the time to continue his jump, I'll do it for him when I get the time.
I won't post my battle until the aliens reply.
Jimbob's fleet jumps into Sentaurus Prime, unloads a few torps, and goes into Sten to engage the defense fleet. The fleet was fairly small. 5 gunboats and 2 interceptors. Heavy Plasma fire took out the gunboats fairly quickly, and the fighters then dove to attack the remaining interceptors.
Sten is now under Dreden control, 42nd refuelling and restocking. Fleet numbers: 42nd fleet: 1 Battlecruiser 2 Cruisers 1 Battlegunship 3 Destroyer Mk. IIs 5 Destroyers 16 Heavy Fighters 22 Interceptors (3 destroyed)

OOC: Skyblade don't expect any attacks to come from me, as far as im concerned the battle already happend. Funny how its perfectly acceptable for the HC and Dreden to capture our Core Worlds in one post (which is expressly forbidden in the rules) and without any input from the defenders, but whenever the Aliens post legal and fair attacks, that just happen to be major victories they are disgarded. Yeah real funny...

OOC: Will you just freakin stop complaining and play the stupid webstory?? Mac moderated on the whole thing a ton, so stop arguing and make a post. Urgh...
Once again, you insist on blaming me for things I never said...
Originally posted by Mac: **Mod Post: Lots to cover here, it seems. First, I think the Dreden should be able to pick their own defense fleet, and use it accordingly. It wouldn't necessarily be a big deal if they lost now that they've found the HC; they could join us easily. However, they should have that chance to stick up for themselves. The rule about no single post battles when taking a capital (If it says "Core" in the rules I meant "Capital," so those single posters are fine as long as they're reasonable, which they have been.) was primarily designed to prevent someone from walking in and crushing a government all at once. Ipvicus may have followed the letter of the rules, but really not the spirit. The Dreden should control their own fleet. There are also some other allowances to consider. The capital defense fleet is going to be composed of elite troops, for obvious reasons, and will probably have a better kill/loss ratio than average. A solid tactician (gov. leader) should be in charge during the battle. In fact, the spirit in which the strong capital defense was created was intended to prevent it from being captured by a single fleet, though I didn't exactly plan on 800 million credit fleets. **
Read that three or four times until you realize Mac said that.
