Spl_Cadet, what the hell was that?! I admit Macavenger went a little overboard with his posts and mods, but I really don't think it was necsisary. We agreed on no more "smash into planet crap" but I guess since you knew your screwed up post wouldn't count you did it anyway.

Cadet, this is a webstory, not a comedy. I don't believe Mac has been fair in some of his judging, but your post certainly didn't help the situation. You pull that again and none of your posts will be valid to the rest of BFS III. You could simply admit defeat, pull back your remaining fleet, and regroup with the rest of the pirates somewhere else. Then wait for topic page 3 so you can build additional ships.
Heck, just take it easy...
Skyblade , Jimbob. I swear, you better edit all your posts that you've made!
This is PURE crap! Jimbob and Skyblade presumably destroyed two Alien fleets with their band of ships (no offence) without me posting even one post.

Your fleet is not destroyed. In fact, I voided one of Jimbob's posts since it left you with a single carrier. This was the plan all along, so don't upset for falling into our little trap. You've got the remains of two fleets, so fight with it or pull back. We're waiting for you to respond right now.
We ain't a "band of ships," we outnumbered you before the battle even began...
A trap! Thats your excuse? This is total crap. I'm really pissed.
I'm not even going to start on all the ways I could of destroyed Jims fleet before you even arrived. That thing that gets me, is that the TWO of you decided to screw my fleet s without me making a singel post. By you two "slautering" my fleets one after another you compleatly upset the entire story line of the battle.
Mac, plain and simple, your initial post put III on a fast-track to lunacy. Cadet is right to vehemently complain. And you are wrong to be so obdurate.
You seem to be maintaining some kind of "presumed idiocy" on the part of the pirates. Your "the bridge of the pirate flagship was a mass of confusion" post confirmed that for me. (No it was not a quote. More of a paraphrase.) Who do you think you are fighting? The Three Stooges????
You have started this episode of very badly. I think you should make some drastic modifications to the damage you inflicted on Cadet.

Think about it. The reason you've been so smashed is because you didn't make the effort to post the battle first. The attacker should always post first, and that was your major mistake. So what is Jimbob suppost to do, sit around and stare? No sir, he's going to take advantage of that and strike first... Azdara Ace and I have also joined the battle to clean you up, and now it's your turn to post. It was somewhat of a mistake to jump fleets that far into Dreden space, as there would have certainly been a major ambush. Now the price is being paid. Now listen, Jimbob has lost nearly his entire fleet. Isn't that fair enough? And is it against the rules for Ace and I to join the battle? Deal with your situation, so we can get on with the story instead of argue about it.
No hard feelings, man. Just pointing out the obvious.
This is becoming for flame war than fun, so maybe I should point out a few things.
ยWebstories are unpredictable. In other words, your plans can fail just as easily as they do in real life. For instance, RC, you were expecting to destroy Jimbob's fleet with your joint effort, but why didn't it work? Because it didn't go as planned. You cannot expect other enemy fleets to watch their comrades get busted and destroyed. They are likely to come forth and aid the defender until either side loses, and that is exactly what Ace and I did. We weren't going to watch Jimbob get slaughtered while we sat around doing nothing...
ยDeal with your situation, don't argue about it! I can understand some of the reasons for arguements lately (especially that first battle), but it's getting you nowhere. Instead of fighting over what could have happened, deal with what is happening. Accept it as it comes, even if it isn't what you want. Only bring it before as a problem when it's a true rule-breaker...
All webstories share that in common, and you're going to have to accept it either way (even if you don't like it). I don't like watching my fleet suffer losses, and I'm sure Jimbob didn't enjoy watching 80% of his fleet going up in flames, but he didn't fuss about it. He dealt with the situation and went from there.
You guys keep that in mind. It might save you plenty of fuss, and certainly a lot of time... Heck, have some fun and get on with the story!

No. If confusion is the word I used, you're interpreting it too literally, though I can understand that. I do some of my writing a little like a novel, and realistically I didn't intend to mean the situation over there was any worse than on the bridge of my own ship.
spl, the reason a few fighters didn't show up is simple: tactics. My bomb delivery group was led by a set of larger ships, followed by a group of fighters behind them. The ships and their engine trails in front effectively screen the following fighters from detection.
I don't consider anything I've done so far blatant cheating, spl. Perhaps I've overestimated a couple of my tactics slightly, but I think in general they're fairly accurate. Now, Skyblade, in the future, and even now, if you think I'm going to far, call me on it here, and give me your ideas. I freely admit you've got a more objective viewpoint in battles between myself and the pirates.
By the same token: I think you Dreden got a little out of control yourselves at Verdica. I'm going to need a chance to read over that carefully before I can decide what to do. Skyblade, I'd just like to point out here that what you did there is almost identical to what happened at Levo, and you know what the results of that were. Be very careful in your future battles. You have a tendency to get two of your fleets in a battle, and post back and forth with your player, not giving the enemy a nose in the door. An enemy player must post between each post by anyone on your side, clear?
Now, if Skyblade will give me some thoughts on Perseus ad I can sort out Veridca, maybe we can save this thing.

The HC fleets where totaly amazed on what just happened. They had expected a large fleet engaging them not fighting a other race than jumping away. The truth is that there was a small dreaden fleet aprotching them (Special task force) and after the aliens heard what happened to the other fleets to small fleets they decided not to risk a battle. ------3 mins after the Alien fleet jumped-------- the jumpgate opened up for a second time. Expecting a Alien invasion fleet a small blue fighter exited with some red debrease. ======Alien Command ship. U.N.S. Apolo====== Jager turned to his comm officer. Send a message to the pirate empire. Tell them a alien fleet just jumped into there galixey and is wishing to talk to there leader.
=========Battle.net News========== A Alien fleet jumped into our galixey to day brining a new race with them. They are called the dreaden and have vastly supperior technology to us. From what they have told us the alien are being destroyed and the fleet that jumped into our galixey was actualy is here to establish a coloney. HC officials have not told reporters what actions will be brought towards this new race or the aliens. One thing is clear several Pirate fleets have been dected moving in the direction of this alien fleet. ========/Battle.net News=============

Is it just me or is this post totally incoherent?
First off, your fleet MUST stop in the jumpgate system for one round of fighting
Second, my and carno's ships were deployed in a fashion so that ANYTHING that comes through the jumpgate will get blasted by an intense concentration of fire from every angle
Third, where did the Dreden get even remotely close to the northern Alien systems, not even mentioning the jumpgate?
I think this either has to be drastically reshaped by a mod, or the act must be retracted.
Originally posted by Macavenger: **(edit) Rak, I answered your list of questions in the old topic, I think... (/edit) **
No you didn't
Yes, even though he's on the enemy side and made a horrible move, which is very good for the Dreden, I back General Rak. He had to stop and encounter the two fleets for one round of fighting, we decided that a long time ago. Macavenger, get out your eraser and pen.
Okay.
I made a little more sense out of Jagers post by doing some spelling corrections and coherence enhantion.
I also have a bit more critism.
If you noticed, I upgaded my fleet rediness to DEFCON ONE earlier. That means that all weapons are live and crew members are ready to do battle within an average of three minutes. Now, it takes quite a while to warm up the jumpgate for such a massive fleet movement, and that is alert enough.
Originally posted by Jimbob: **Yes, even though he's on the enemy side and made a horrible move, which is very good for the Dreden, I back General Rak. **
Hey! I am on the Dreden/HC side. I am NOT your enemy If you are talking about Jager... well, I understand
No no, I'm backing you. Jager make big mistake. General Rak come and complain. Jimbob make mild joke about jager and Back Rak. See?
Originally posted by General Rak: Is it just me or is this post totally incoherent?
It's totally incoherent. Jager, next time you post, I want you to type it in MS Word, and run it through spell AND grammar check before you post it.
Originally posted by General Rak: I think this either has to be drastically reshaped by a mod, or the act must be retracted.
Yeah, I'll work on that after I get done with the Dreden thing, which could be a while. I'm so confused... Anyway, Jager, thanks. We appreciate your gesture of absolute suicide.
Originally posted by General Rak: No you didn't;)
Yes, I did. Direct quote from ~halfway down page 5:
Originally posted by Macavenger: **Well, since you're asking here... (Didn't reply before because my fleet is on Double-Red Alert, which doesn't allow Priority One Messages to get through to the commander.)
The gate can't really be shut down, because the side a ship goes through is much more important than where it comes out; the gate basically flings them to the new location. So you could shut down your end, but it wouldn't help much.
Don't see why it can't be used as a desk.
a) I don't know that the Jumpgate has special sensors, but your ships scanners should pick up almost everything, so why is that needed? I don't really think so, but I suppose you could try to invent something...**
When will Skyblade get some income to restock my fleet? Once page two ends? Or is it three pages?

Bleh, here we go again.
Yes, I will freely admit that some of the problems have been my fault at Verdica. In fact, I'll take all the blame if RC prefers. My apologies for the mix-up, I only did what my sleepy mind told me to.. hehe.
Ok, there's no rule stating that you can't have multiple fleets in a battle. You're correct, I do have a tendency to bring in more than a single fleet. Why? Success. A single fleet is toast against two fully-prepared enemy fleets, and I simply did what any other commander in real life would do: Put all the forces that weren't preoccupied with other matters into the battle. RC must have at least considered a large Dreden counterattack... It was almost too obvious. While my fleet performed a loop around the line of attack, Azdara simply remained stationary a system away from the 42nd. I intend on using my forces, not watching my navy crumble because of poor leadership.
This is somewhat different from Levo, actually. I did really bomb that part back in BFS II, even if the battle was an alien victory. The HC retreated after destroying the alien carrier, leaving Levo up for capture.
I'll also admit I've grown a little impatient with RC (nothing against him. Cool guy he is ;)). I've watched him post in these discussion topics numerous times, yet he ignores the actual webstory and does not reply to our battle posts. I kinda got uptight about that, and did put a little more into the story than I should have. My apologies RC.
Also, you can normally expect three players fighting two fleets controlled by a single player to come out on top. Three people can post battles while the opposing player posts once. That can lean towards defeat.
Now, even if we did do Verdica all over again, the Dreden wouldn't certainly win. Three fully-prepared Rebel fleets, not to mention the most powerful vessel in the galaxy, fighting two opposing fleets with roughly the same power. Losses would be heavy (Jimbob is practically harmless now. He lost just about everything) on both sides. I took advantage of my location, and attacked the aliens from behind while Azdara distracted the enemy from the front. Put it in real terms, and that would be a serious ambush.
Oh well, hope I made some sense there. My apologies for any trouble I've caused. Guess it is all my fault after all.
So ummm, let's try getting on with the webstory sometime.
I won't say anything about the battle between the HC and pirates... It will only lead to yet-more unnecessary posts. I'd suggest taking things from where they are and going from there.
Originally posted by Macavenger: Yeah, I'll work on that after I get done with the Dreden thing, which could be a while. I'm so confused... Anyway, Jager, thanks. We appreciate your gesture of absolute suicide.
While I wait ( :p) I shall continue on with my own plots and never acknowledge the existance of Jagers move
Originally posted by Macavenger: **Don't see why it can't be used as a desk. **
Good... so I hope you don't mind if I move fleet intelligence, General Assembly, AND defense command there
Originally posted by Macavenger: a) I don't know that the Jumpgate has special sensors, but your ships scanners should pick up almost everything, so why is that needed?
I speculate that it, as a class I military installation, should have advanced sensors. Advanced sensors can smash through all the debris and clutter of the battlefield, providing a clear and commanding view of the battlefield.
Originally posted by Macavenger: I don't really think so, but I suppose you could try to invent something...
Ah well... fleet intelligence always works wonders
