Welp, I like the cheesey Dash Riprock kind of stuff, but I like to be origional... I've got an EV pilot named Zuben El-Jenubi and the same name for EVO. My Frozen Heart character is named Ace Blinkly which I stole from a film noir thing I never did.
Ship names HAVE to be cheesey for me. I like Starseeker... I've done Cherry Laine.. The Lucky Bullock.... The Blue Lady... Kind of 30s-50s airplane names, I guess. I think the Lucky Bullock is my favorite to date.

Tecnically, the Hood was a battlecruiser and was built during World War I - which helps to explain why she only lasted five minutes against the Bismarck .
I am usually too lazy and lacking in creativity to come up with good name for pilots or ships, so I often steal names from books or TV shows. If I do make up a name it tends to be somehat negative such as "Doofus Dipwad" for a pilot or "Rustbucket" for a ship. I also sometimes name pilots based on the plug I am playing, I currently have a pilot for the alpha of Mille Terrae named Terry Miles.

Ahh, I loved the Tirpitz. German Battleships have always fascinated me, especially the Bismarck and Scharnhorst.

My current pilot's name is Chool Bu. It's the word school bus with the s's taken off. I saw it on a privately owned school bus (they can't actually say school bus). Say it! It's fun. Another fun word to say is "Flag Alarm."

Tirpitz and Bismarrck were the only German battleships built during WWII. Scharnhorst and her sister ship Gneisenau (sp?) were classed as battlecruisers, smaller guns and lighter armor than the battleships. Priz Eugen had 8 inch (approximately 20 cm) guns. Rebel Cruiser and Confed Cruiser should be called battleships since they are the most powerful ships either government has. (EV related topic )

There is a lot of controversy over the Scharnhorst being a heavy cruiser. Most World War II books you read will categorize it as a pocket (light) battleship. Gneisenau is usually classified as a heavy cruiser, though.
You sure about the Prinz Eugen's armament? According to one of my millions of WWII data books, its four main turrets housed 12inch guns, while the secondary turrets were 9-inchers...
Yeah, the Cruisers of both major governments basically are basically battleships...
