Just because it annoys me slightly doesn't mean I don't answer, ya'know. And if you haven't Kamakaski, you should read the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/guidelines.html")Web Board Guidelines(/url), they'll answer some of the stereotypical newbie questions Corey mentioned without you having to ask them.
I think I know what me means... Confed ships are ugly, but superior as far as performance and ability. Its more of an unoriginal observation than a topic for discussion, but ok. I think that Rebel ships are superior both in looks and ability. As far as the A.I. battles go, Confeds will always win because the AI cannot take advantage of the Rebel's great speed and agility. The confeds win only because of slightly better shielding. Now I could take out a confed cruiser in a Rebel destroyer with ease.
I think that the Confederation ships were made the way they are as opposed to Rebel ships is to enforce the feeling of Under-doggedness (real word?) of the Rebels. It makes them weaker and more able to be sympathised with by the common man. It makes them seem more noble; fighting for their cause despite certain death in most cases.

I'm sure we all could. Making a human vs. AI comparison isn't really fair, which goes as pretty much a standard rule for all Rebel vs. Confed topics.

Well, the Rebel Destroyer and Manta are actually somewhat better than their Confed counterparts, though only a little. The Rebel Cruiser is definitely inferior in AI vs. AI, though better for human control. I believe David's theory, which makes sense (doesn't all of David's posts make sense?), is that the Confed ships are slower and more heavily armed because they are intended to defend the Core Worlds, while Rebel ships are faster because they were originally designed to carry out hit and run attacks, where speed is necessary. Sorry if it wasn't you who said that David, but I seem to recall you posting something to that effect.

Well, if I didn't say anything like that, it was only because I forgot to. The difference in role between the government ships is definitely the cause of their different specifications. Mind you, I consider the Rebel Destroyer and Confederation Frigate about equal; the reason the destroyer is more popular is that it matches more people's piloting styles than the frigate.
As for the appearance of the ships, I consider the Confederation Frigate, Confederation Cruiser, Rebel Destroyer, and Corvette all far better looking than the Rebel Cruiser.

I edited your post to make more sense, and I disagree. I've seen Mantas take out Gunboats. Several times. Although, When I still had 1.0.2. (When Mantas only had 1 missile each), Patrol Ships beat them easily. Maybe you have an older version. I hope Nova lets the A.I. ships take advantage of their special abilities (i.e. speed, firepower, shielding).

In 1.0.5, I'd agree. Actually, I thought the Rebel Cruiser looked better in 1.0.4, and back then was possibly the best looking ship in the game, though the Corvette always has been very nice looking. In MAGMA all of those are easily better than the Rebel Cruiser, it's not one of the best works in MAGMA.

The Rebel Cruiser's pretty ugly in MAGMA. The Confed Cruiser's pretty good, and so is the Rebel Destroyer. In my opinion, at least.

Agreed. No offense to Meowx, but I personally detest the Rebel Cruiser of EV: MAGMA...
The Argosy and Rebel Destroyer on the other hand, are awesome. The Argosy looks as if it could eat a Confed Cruiser alive with that nasty, agressive look.

I dunno, the Confed Cruiser has a pretty sleek look itself. That is definitely quite the improvement over standard EV.
Seems i don't still have version 1.0.4 lying around, or I'd post a pict of that Rebel Cruiser for those of you who've never seen it before. I might be able to go back and find it though, we've only got about 4 years worth of MacAddict CDs lying around here somewhere.

As for a description of the MAGMA Rebel Cruiser, it's basic design resembles the original design, but it is wwaayy too fat. It looks more like an old 'Fed Cruiser.
