It hasn't started yet. Captain Skyblade will post the actual web story when we're ready to start. Relax, you aren't overlooking anything.

Maybe some of the veterans can put up links to relevant threads so everyone else can get a better grasp of just what's going on - I'd do it, but I'm no veteran...I'd bet that it would include BFS I and (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001670.html#")II(/url), at least.

Good idea, Corey. Here's a list of all the relevant links I could dig up:
(url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001571.html#")Battle for Sol(/url) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001670.html#")Battle for Sol II(/url) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001673.html#")Battle for Sol II Discussion(/url) (Official location for bsing about the thread, complaining about what the other guy did, etc.) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001663.html#")Battle for Sol II Registration(/url) (The BFS II version of this thread, was also used for Discussion at first) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001672.html#")Battle for Sol II Ships(/url) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/001671.html#")Battle for Sol II Weapons(/url)
(edit) Note that most of the graphics in Episode II threads don't work because they were hosted on my web space, so all the links point there, but I took most of that out at the end to preserve space. You can still read them though. (/edit)

Thanks. I'll be sure to read most, if not all of that.

Hope you have a few hours on your hands, as none of the old Battle for Sol-related topics are short...

Oh, it should be no trouble for me. I have my handy-dandy CubeLink Advanced cable. (kidding aside, I think I should be able to take care of that tomorrow afternoon...)

I, too, have cable, but that won't make your reading any faster. It will save you plenty of loading time, though...
Macavenger = HC Prime Minister Shade = Alien Prime Sinister (Minister) Captain Skyblade = Dreden Prime Minister
Yaaah! I am not a Prime Minister,Rak! I was never elected by some puny Democracy! I assasinated the old Emperor and took his place in a violent coup! As such,I am Emperor, not PM.

That's right, just remember we humans don't like emperors.
(I like the sig. Haven't seen a member with a good Bible verse in his signature in quite awhile...)
Thankyou. I got it from the same reference book I got the ranks for the Imperial ranking list.

Yes it is! But if you read it all, you can learn tactics and strategy, and have an advantage over everyone else.

Lemme get this straight. If I am to join as a pirate... • III starts with the weapons, ships & tech that were extant at the end of II • As a pirate I cannot get to the other (Milky Way?) map -- and this is because -- .....Pirates are too stupid to find the jump gate? .....Pirates don't know how to use a particular jump gate (when they CAN use others)? .....Pirates are simply "not allowed" in the other map? .....Pirates are so cunning in their battle tactics the Dreden and Aliens are afraid of us? .....Pirates never follow "rules" Skyblade and Mac know we will use it anyway?
(I'm so confused....)

I'm not so sure about you not being able to get over there once the game begins, but as I understood it, the rule was that pirates wouldn't START in the other galaxy, (Sentarus I believe) So you will just pick up where you left off from BFS 2, maybe with less worlds maybe more. It would suprise me if you had absolutely no technological advances, and if this next story does take place a while later, I wonder how the story will explain the continued existance of both the pirates and HC when neither would have had anything to distract them...
Of course the above is all speculation on my part until someone who is actually working everything out for real answers your question. Then it becomes either wrong or very wrong

Except, perhaps, those of us who developed those tactics in the first place, like me for many of them, and thus will likely be able to execute them better. I fight more strategically than tactically anyway, it's just the tactical manifestations of my underlying strategy that show up in my writing. (Confused yet?)

No.

Actually, it's mostly right. The pirates will probably be a bit more confined at the start, to one or 2 areas of the Milky Way. I'm not aware of any specific rules preventing you from venturing to Sentarus, but you probably wouldn't want to go there anyway, unless you're spl_cadet. Most other people should realize that doing so would be suicide for a pirate fleet. The continued existence of both can be explained easily. There's only a few months between the end of II and start of III, and it's easy to suppose that it took the HC a fair amount of that time to finish kicking out the Aliens. However, with the Aliens retreating, the pirates would probably get kicked around a bit, and I think they'll likely only have 1 or 2 sections of the galaxy in their control.
