I think we are adding the pirates back in the Milky Way now, and the jumpgates can be used by anyone. I'm not sure the plot of Episode III is totally compatible with Episode II in all ways. If I'm the Aliens (which I was in II), I destroy the jumpgate after retreating from the Milky Way. Actually, I skip all that by winning in the Milky Way, but it makes a better story this way.

Glad to hear that, Crusader. You were my best Fleet Commander in episode II. Welcome to the Dreden Rebellion...

Haven't really thought about that, but I guess yes would be a logical answer. If I were a government official and knew there were doorways (or jumpgates) around my galaxy, I would by all means protect them. For the players of episode III, protecting the jumpgates will be very important...

Well, we really don't have much choice but to change the plot. If we were to continue with the original Escape Velocity plot, than we would likely get no participation, as we've already had an episode based on the original EV storyline.
Hi! To answer your question Captain Skyblade, It's pretty much my first time. I tried one on Yahoo before, but it didn't keep my attention. This is going to be a lot different though, I can tell!

Alright then. Just remember that we normally don't give high fleet ranks to players with little webstory experience, but if you're a good participant and obey orders, you'll reach the higher ranks in no time.

Looks good to me. Welcome to the Dreden Rebellion. You've picked the right side (no offense, Mac :p) Have any webstory experience yourself?

Ok. Another alien player... As for your race president, Shade will most likely be your lead commander and president.
As I've asked all the other members, do you have webstory experience? (government leaders: Make sure to keep this information in mind upon handing ranks to your players)

Just take a pick. The Dreden Rebellion seems to have a lead in players at the moment, so I wouldn't mind if you did join the Human Confederation. Just make sure you don't use interjection marks in every sentence. Thanks for joining.
Any extra questions? Just let me know, and Mac and I will try to answer them as soon as possible. Thanks.
Hey, I was checking out the old BFS II story and it looks pretty neat, so I thought I'd throw myself in. Is there some kind of summary of the two stories anywhere out there that I might read up on? Or should I just spend an afternoon perusing the old posts?
Name: Wayland Kolsted Initial: WK Govt: HC
As for webstory experience, I'd have to say "not much" I was involved with a few other inexperienced players out on a Fallout board for awhile, but thats about it. I also noticed a few inconsistencies with the ranking system used in BFS II, and I was wondering if someone could post what the actual ranks are in the story.

Funny you ask about the ranks. Mac and I have been spending some time creating ranks for government players. Here are the current ranks for the Human Confederation and Dreden Rebellion (not final):
Dreden Rebellion Ranks: Ensign Lieutenant Lieutenant Commander Commander Captain Commodore (basically a one star admiral) Rear Admiral (two star admiral) Vice-Admiral (three star admiral) Admiral (four star admiral) Fleet Admiral (five star admiral. Can control all fleets)
Dreden Rebellion Insignas and awards: Medical Corps (given to officers who command or serve aboard medical vessels) Supply Corps (given to officers who command or serve aboard supply vessels) Blue Cross (only given to officers who have shown tremendous amount of bravery and courage in battle. Few, if any players can earn this ensigna) Red Cross (given to officers who have shown courage in the face of battle) Marksman (given to fighter pilots who have the eye of a sniper) Ace (given to fighter pilots who have destroyed more than ten enemy vessels) Purple Heart (given to officers (or fighter pilots) who have been wounded in battle) Triple Crown (given to any navy member who has sacrificed his life in battle for the sake of his fleet and government) Badge of Loyalty (given to navy members who have followed strict and dangerous orders without complaint) Special Forces Badge (given to navy members who have demonstrated courage and effort in planetary battles or ship captures)
I will be quite strict about promoting ranks and awarding insignas, so I'm expecting my Dreden Rebellion players to fight hard.
= = = = = = = = = =
Human Confederation Ranks Flight Officer (pilots) Ensign (ship's crew) Lieutenant Captain Commander Major Colonel Commodore Rear-Admiral Vice-Admiral Admiral Fleet Admiral
These ranks were created by Mac, and he is still in the process of creating the list of insignas and awards. Shade, since Mac and I have personally selected you as the alien president (unless we find someone better, which I doubt we will), you may create your own list of awards and ranks for the alien government.
Zen- Here's a quick overview of the old Battle for Sol topics: The Rebels finally defeated the Confederation. That war has long since been over. But during the Rebel / Confederation War, the rebels discovered an alien battlecruiser in the Serpens Nebula while on patrol. Following the Confederation's surrender, the human worlds united for what would become the alien invasion. Sure enough, the aliens invaded, but the HC was able to repulse the invasion after a long and bitter war. The aliens that survived the invasion have retreated to the Sentarus galaxy (which is where they are from). The HC discovered the jumpgate, and this is where episode III will begin. Sound alright?
As for answering my request for webstory experience, thanks. Just that helps the government leaders out plenty with rank hand-outs. Welcome to episode III!
Hope all this information helps you out.
Thanks very much for the prompt reply, I'm glad to see Rear and Vice Admiral ranks instituted, for some reason the "one star, two star" thing kind of bothered me, and its good to see the proper rank being used. Funny thing is... in my mad quest to think up an appropriate ranking scale for something like this (I sometimes have spurts of active imagination) I came up with that Commodore thing too, Rear Admiral Lower Half just sounds stupid.
Hey! Several questions/comments: Where's the Empire rank list? How long is it between the end of BFS II and the beginning of BFSIII? I have a neat idea, but it requires at least a year before the HC enters the Sentaurus galaxy. Does the Empire control any other slave races, barring the Dreden Rebellion? I want a new Second Officer, and I have ideas. After all,the Empire grew,I'm assuming,on slave labour,as most Empires do,and they need someone before they found the Dreden.
Possibly the reason that the Empire didn't destroy the Gate was because they thought they could regain their lost territory easily, and didn't want to destroy essential hardware,or because the Gate is too powerful for them to destroy-they couldn't.
Just remember-it's unlikely that the HC will know of the Dreden at the beginning,as they're in different galaxies. You need ambassadorial summits & stuff before you can start acting together.
Long live the Pax Imperia!

Sure, no problem.

I personally don't like such a rank either. Sounds worse than private. Just plain "Rear Admiral" isn't so bad, however... The United States Navy uses this rank.
Alright all you Dreden Rebellion players (you alien players might like to see these also, since you will be fighting them :)), here are the graphics for two important vessels of the DR Navy: The destroyer and gunship. Both provide reliable vessels and deadly opponets, although I have yet to provide official stats of the vessels.
You can view these two ships (url="http://"http://www.saberstudios.f2s.com/DRduoLarge.jpg")here.(/url)
After watching Star Trek III a few weeks ago and inspired by the Klingon "Bird of Prey," I combined a few features with the Bird of Prey seen in Star Trek VI and VII. The result was the Dreden Destroyer, thrown together rather quickly with Infini-D 4.5. The texture makes up for the lack of objects, though.
The Gunship was my own design. I just finished the craft moments ago. But keep in mind it isn't as small as it looks.
Questions (or comments)?
<oops> It seems as if the viewer can't reach the graphics unless the link is correct. </oops>

Let's see...web story expierence...well, not much. I've plenty of Role-playing but not much of this type of thing.
Very cool ships Captain Skyblade, do you do most of the graphics work for these things? I was wondering how exactly a rebellion against these seemingly invincible aliens might have got itself off the ground? Perhaps some huge suprise offensive with sympathetic tratiorous aliens by their sides? Sorry if I got a little carried away, just finished Mugabi and Destiny a little while back.
Cool ships skyblade! Probably worth it to be a Dreden Rebel just for the cool looking ships! About my characters name, I'll be willing to have it changed to suit rank.
To ZenMastaT: If we were following logic to the letter here, the Dreden would have been crushed at the first sighs of insurrection. Of course,we're not,and so the Dreden get to live. Ah well, the Empire will massacre them, don't worry. :)(how do you do a griining smiley?)
Originally posted by Shade: Where's the Empire rank list?
As Emperor, you get to make it.
Originally posted by Shade: I want a new Second Officer
You can pick any Alien player for a second officer, and probably make them a high ranking fleet commander. Or if you meant one for your flagship, create an NPC.
Originally posted by Shade: Just remember-it's unlikely that the HC will know of the Dreden at the beginning,as they're in different galaxies. You need ambassadorial summits & stuff before you can start acting together.
We've already got some of that worked out. At the beginning, the HC and Dreden won't know of each other. Once our fleets meet at some point, we'll probably start coordinating. Of course, the Aliens know this could happen, so they'll probably want to try to prevent that.
