Under a wave of torpedoes it exploded into a giant ruin. The freighters that it was supposed to guard attempted to make a run for it but were disabled by fire from the Starscreamers and X-Rapiers. The fleet moved over Hodgson's World and began the bombardment. ErsadtSF, I'm going to void your previous post. You can't use defensive guns on a planet's surface, and you can't attack the planet until you've gotten through any fleet(s) present (in this case, mine) and its defensive fleet. Please edit out your post. You'll have to try again if you want to attack Apollo. if you wish to protest, do so on the discussion board.

Continuing in their plan to secure their sector of the galaxy, Wilks now rearmed fleet jumped through the Kathoon system... When they hypered into Spicas space their improved precision was evident. Kotovs reconfigured wing of 20 Corvettes and 49 Xs had earned the right to spearhead this attack.
Two HC Frigates were still docked at Spicas port when Kotov bore in on top of them. The nearest Frigate didnt even leave its docking bay before it was registered as a kill. Kotovs good fortune continued to manifest itself as the resulting explosion took out an additional handful of defense fighters, which were in the process of lifting off. The second Frigate did manage to get airborne -- even taking out one Corvette in the process -- but the Frigate never made it out of Spicas gravity well before it was killed.
Commander Vic, get going! ordered Wilk. On command, Vics wing wheeled for the outskirts of the planets gravity and hypered out of the system.
By the time the second HC Frigate was gone, so were about half the Spican defense fighters. KKs fleet mopped up the remaining fighters with machine-like precision and landed, ready for ground fighting. Instead, Wilk was met by a delegation of very nervous bureaucrats from Spica.
The surrender was unconditional.
Tell Dirk and Kotov to finish the rearming by 03:15:00 Zulu. Any ships not armed will be jumping out of here with only their energy weapons. We leave at three hundred fifteen ... sharp. commanded Wilk. He then gave command to his First, with instructions to be awakened at 03:30:00 and retired to his cabin.
The Scourges First Officer, Commander Zebbel, requested the damages and casualties. KKs fleet had been reduced by 3 Corvettes and only 1 X-Rapier.
Commander Vics wing of 20 Corvettes and 39 Xs jumped nearly on top of the Maxwells Purchase command center. Two Vettes bombarded this brain of the planets defense system with a volley of missiles sufficient to render it useless. The planet was now relying solely on its backup command and control systems.
The puny force of defense fighters was no match for the witheringly effective fire of the pirates. Vic lost only 2 Xs in the brief but intense time it took to dominate Maxwells Purchase.
After landing a small team to realign the Chain of Command for the planet, Vic called, Rally on the Star Dog, mates. Lets keep to the schedule...! And the Star Dogs ships jumped out of the system.

More moderation: spl_cadet, Rigel is a core world, so it would have a much stiffer defense than that. Rework this, you'll take some signifcant losses attacking that system, methinks.

Lightnings leapt out of the hangars of the Kestrels as the pirates engaged the HC defense. The fighters and X-Rapiers punched through the line without any difficulty at all. "What's this? Our scout elements have broken through. These idiots behave as though they don't even know how to use their weapons. Full barrage, all cannon!" Admiral spl_cadet shouted. The Kestrels and Corvettes fired their cannon at the enemy destroying those few who hadn't already been destroyed. Soon the battle was over and Levo had surrendered. 589th Pirate Assault Fleet stats 1 SuperKestrel 45 Kestrels 19 Modified Argosies 22 Corvettes 105 X-Rapiers 4 Starscreamers.

spl_cadet, and the other pirates to a lesser extent, you're getting a bit out of control. (list=a) ()The pirates are still going too fast. Slow down, guys, and give the rest of us a chance to get our posts in. The only people who are available as much as you guys are are Skyblade and I, and we spend most of our time doing moderation. This goes for all the pirates. ()You still need to rework the battle of Rigel to include more losses and a stiffer defense fleet. (*)The defense fleet you give at Levo is reasonable, but would do a lot more damage to your fleet. Rework that a bit.(/list=a)
(edit)I see you edited, but I'm still not happy. That's about enough losses for Levo, and even there is a stretch. Matar should have had a better fleet than Levo, even. Try this:

Shade had been becoming tired of waiting in orbit of the newly captured planet. When the message from Emperor Macavenger arrived,he ran it eagerly through to decryption processors. The message read:
Take our remaining marines and conquer NGC-8714. Then return to Kaujathin with all haste to aquire more troops and return to the Apollo system.
Shade found that the fleet was ready to move out,and ordered the ships to move to the NGC-8714 jump point.
=Interlude(I like these interludes)=
Major Tony Waergh was spinning idly in his command chair aboard the light freighter S.S. Nebula Blues when the klaxxons sounded. Finally,some answers. He had command of the most boring ship in the fleet,acting as base for a wing of Mantas stationed to sit on their rears all day,as far as he could judge. The supply courier,supposed to arrive last friday,had never turned up,and the wing had not had enough fuel to jump for several weeks now. Tony was looking forward to finding out why the courier was late. It was supposed to have his brandy shipment aboard. A glance at the viewscreen revealed everything,however. An Alien warfleet had just jumped into the system. There was the reason the supply ship had never arrived. Although the Rebels had won(Tony still refused to call them the "Human Confederacy"),he remained loyal to the Confederation he had served for twenty years. His grandfather had flown a Manta against the Aliens,just as he was about to. The pilots,Tony included,climbed into their Mantas with worried looks. It would take a miracle to survive. The dozen Mantas launched as,far away,the Aliens launched their fighters. The opposing sides sped towards each other,with seeker drones launching from the Alien fighters,missiles from the Mantas. Within minutes the aliens were upon them.
Tony's last words were "Long live the Confederaton!" As he had never been patriotic to the new government,his wingmates might have wondered,but they had no time to speculate before they,too,were destroyed.
=Interlude Ends=
Shade quickly eliminated the unarmed freighter,and his fleet moved on towards the far jump point.
The NGC-8714 system is now territory of the Alien Empire.
In two hours the fleet had reached the jump point into space unexplored by Humanity. The fleet passed through the Unexplored AAAN system.
Note:the following systems contain nothing of interest,so I won't detail them. They extend downwards in a NSE direction(between East and Southeast on a compass) I'll be naming them as I pass through them.
Firstly: Unexplored AAAN is renamed SGS-4561 The fleet then moves through:
SGS-4562 SGS-4563 SGS-4564
And enters the Kaujathin("The Door Opens") system.
Ahead loomed the massive bulk of the Alien Jumpgate. A huge ring of mottled red,the gate glowed red in it's center,occluding the stars behind it. Near the Gate orbited the Kaujathin'Kerath ("Guardian of the Open Door") station. Shade ordered the fleet to dock with an empty docking spar,and went to contact the Marine Commander.
As my fleet can only move 6 jumps a post,I will return with more troops next post,probably tomorrow.
BTW: Don't yo just love those red smileys? They look like Alien coloured. :mad:

I am going to a little planet, S'Taal. My personal explorations found it years ago and I have purposely kept S'Taal secret from galaxy cartographers.

My villa on a lake on S'Taal is completed. The people are robust, peaceful and accepting of my retirement there. It is time for the apple harvest....
