Which is your favorite outfit, the one thing your ship wouldn't be complete without? I would say that illegal shield re-charge boost.

Ummm... geez, this is tough! I'd have to go with the thing no ship would be safe without... the escape pod! We are talking strict play, right? Well, otherwise, the tractor beam. Unless you're talking something you can buy. That would have to be the Lightning fighter-bomber. Unless you mean available to everyone. That's gotta be the shield thingy that Luke was talking about. I think I've gone over every area, woudn't you say?
------------------ Yeah, you heard me.
hey, whats a ship without a gun? i mean, come on, life in space is boring unless you can shoot something. i'd go for that proton cannon. and you can't live without that escape pod, and if your ship didn't have any extra armor, you'd be screwed. and if your big enough and get jumped by pirates, that lightning or hawk fighter could go a long way to helping you out. personally, though, i like the sound of the mass driver.
confusing? i thought so.

Missile Jammer, no doubt about it. Second to that, I would probably have to say RCS Upgrade. I'm also quite fond of the Density Scanner/IFF Decoder. I never fly without those, but they're not as important as the others.
Mine is simpler, yes?
P.S. Nice sig Luke.
------------------ So go on the internet game sites and bash all the PC users!
No ship is complete without some form of turreted weapon, which in my case is usually protons. You've gotta have them, of else you're history once you run out of secondaries...

Thanks. Yours is good advice. But let's not turn this into another PC-bashing session.
What good is a weapon if you're not alive to use it? You need to build up a defense before an offense. That's why I always buy armor and shields if I'm on a low budget. Then weapons, then those engine upgrades.
the speed upgrades! who needs shields and armor if you are fast enough to dodge.... well come to think of it, shields are useful... but not as fun as the speed, RCS, and thrust enhancements.

Afterburner. When starting out, I never go anywhere without this upgrade. In a moderately agile ship like the shuttle or scout, its almost as good as the missile jammer and much easier to get.

Key word: almost. The afterburner consumes way too much feul to be efficient. Just get the missle jammer that is constantly at work, and free after you buy it. Also those expensive (yet very effective) engine upgrades are the way to go. After that stuff, get an afterburner.
I usually use small fighters like the Lightning, so I can't spare 5 tons for an afterburner- seems quite useless to me. The missle jammer doesn't weigh anything, so I like it better.

I just made a plug that makes the Lightning better, but it's too small to release.

I've seen plugs that are 1k compressed. I don't think anything is too small to release. Have a go at it if you want.

Yeah, but no one likes them.
I download them because it takes so little time. If I like it, I keep it. If I don't, I trash it. There's no harm done in posting a plug.

Hmm, my favourite outfit would HAVE to be the Spectres
I'll let this one little bit leak out, Spectres are unique to my plug-in (which is still in the very early stages of development, so you won't be able to try it for along time). Spectres, are in a word, awsome :D. The Spectres is <insert drumroll here> a cloaked mine, yes, you heard me right, a cloaked mine. Pretty sweet, eh?

So they're a projectile weapon with 0 speed and a null graphic? Not an original idea, but not a bad one. However, I've never had much use for mines. Cloaked Missiles are better.
How about your favorite outfit from the standard game?
(This message has been edited by Macavenger (edited 07-05-2001).)
My favorite outfit is the Tritanium You're nearly invincible. I alwas buy it when I have more than the Corvette, but I tried an Argosy with that awful. The major inconvenient when upgrading an Argosy (or other weak-shielded ship) is that shield upgrades are expensive and not that efficient (you can just have 4 shield enhancers), so I buy armor expansions. And, please, avoid talking of outfits that are weapons, as there have already been plenty of discussions about them.

I want some.
This is really TWO questions. I will answer both.
The outfit I cannot do without is the IRR Decoder. With it I know, not just where the bogies are, but who they are too. Do I fight? Do I run? I only have the data to decide with the IRR Decoder.
The coolest outfit is the Fork. Like big explosions? Get close to a Confed transport and fire. Want to concentrate on a pirate Argosy to take his loot (and not be bugged by those pesky Defenders)? Target the Defenders and "fire and forget." Go get your Argosy.
And if you "purists" are about to start on your whinning "The fork is a cheat!" spare me ... and see my sig.
