Out of curiosity, what are the Escape Velocity gamer's favorite plugin? I've used many of them, and I'm going to have to say the "Galactic Scourge" is the best, although Pale is a close call. What is your favorite EV plugin?

Clavius & Beyond gets my vote. Though GS comes in a close second.

I don't know, I can't seem to get them to work. I know that memory isn't an issue. Some advice, pleeeeeease? Here, put the big smile on this face :frown:

Uh. Memory is sometimes an issue. With really big plugs it sometimes is necessary to change the min memory size so as to load all the extra data.
Just get a plug, put it in the folder called EV Plugins and try altering the memory allocated to EV. Hope this works.

"Mugabi and Destiny for her" is without doubt the best plugin I've ever played, and that's not because I'm biased as a girl! In every area, it is in a class by itelf.
The Dark Beyond all the way. (Going to be in beta 3 soon.)

Hey, people. As one who has yet to try a single plug, I am closely watching this thread to decide which plug-in should be KK's first.
Come on. Please note "why" you think the plug is good; don't just vote.
Do you like...
STORY • Plot • Complexity • Intrigue
UNIVERSE • Graphics • Systems • Governments
MISSIONS • Difficulty / Challenge • Payoff(s) • Contribution to Story
SHIPS • Design • Capability • Outfits • Weaponry
Okay, I don't expect you to be super-thorough, but at least this kind of feedback would be useful.
Now, Post! Dadburn it...! (Startled ya, didn't I?)
------------------ “You will find that our crew will be either the most valuable, loyal, and trustworthy of allies, or ... if you insist on trying to swallow us up -- the worst of enemies. The choice is yours. And should you choose to fight us ... don’t bring a knife to a gunfight!”
I have to say Clavius and Beyond. Mainly for story and missions, but the rest was cool too.

Expanding on my vote for Pale: It's story is well thought through, the writing is high-quality, and the ships and systems follow an interesting, original, and realistic pattern.
Just wait till you all see "The Dreden War..." We (the corsairs) are currently about a sixth of the way done with the plug, and we are currently really busy designing graphics and writting missions.
Pale, for the following reasons: Well thought out and executed storyline. Well written missions. Originality. Revamping the existing things to a point where it all seems new and exciting. Challenging. Excellent graphics. Was able to play it several times, and still actually read the mission texts each time.

Okay, people. I checked this "Highest Ranked Plug-ins" page of Ambrosia's EV web board...
(url="http://"http://www.ambrosiaSW.com/games/ev/addons.html")http://www.ambrosiaS.../ev/addons.html(/url)
... and I am wondering how your current input varies, from this information? As of 04/05/01 these are the highest ranked plugs:
EVGE 79 M&D; (her) 74 Eye of O 72 C&B; 78 NH 73 M&D; 77 Final B 73 GS 76 Star W 2.01 72 Empire 75 Pale 72
Well, that was crazy. Maybe I'll fix it later. "Tab" does not seem to be recognized, huh?
Here are the numbers again.
EVGE -- 79 C&B; -- 78 M&D; -- 77
GS -- 76 Empire -- 75 M&D; (her) -- 74
NH -- 73 Final B -- 73 Star W -- 72
Pale -- 72 Eye of O -- 72
I hope this works better.
If you disagree, get in there (link is a few posts up) and rank 'em....

Please include some well designed trading ships in your plug, and dont price them like warships. (and while im at it , include some interesting missions for poor shuttle pilots).
I vote Pale: Well thought out story, great graphics, great game physics. Other plugs have great stories and graphics, but none--not even Matt Burch's EV-- has the game physics of Pale. The weapons and ships have clear military roles. The history in Pale is more than a scenario in the readme. Civilian ships also have clear, well thought out roles (fast courier, heavy freighter, armored transport).
Also good: Clavius and beyond, Mugabi and Destiny, Epic Missions. Galactic Scourge, EVGE
This pole has been done before in the archives. Examples: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum6&topic;=001331")http://www.AmbrosiaS...m6&topic=001331(/url) (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum6&topic;=001197")http://www.AmbrosiaS...m6&topic=001197(/url) Also useful are the best ship threads, as the best ships are usually in good plugins. (Exception: Quantumire Trilogy has the absolute most powerful ships, but has severe flaws that make it not recommended).
The Ambrosia ranking is meaningless. The Starwars plug was not very good-- the ships are nice, but the playing experience was lacking. Pale would be number 1 if people didnt spend so much time playing that they forget to vote, and voting in that thing is a real hassle.
I think the Star Wars one is good but' I've never played it. It's too big.(For the reason look at my post on EVO.)

I think that the Star Wars plugin idea is a good one, but I think that the graphics are too 3-D. I wish the graphics were from the top, instead of the side. So I have made a SW plug with EVish graphics. They aren't the best, but I think it's cool. It also might take a little less RAM and stuff. Email me at zmasta23@hotmail.com to maybe be a beta tester.
