I recieved the cloaking device when I was flying a Corvette. Now, I want to upgrade to a Kestrel. Am I able to retain this and other special weapons with a new ship? Am I able to purchase them somewhere or do the missions over again? Or should I think twice before upgrading ships?

-yes- the special weapons and outfits which you gain doing mission strings are kept with you no matter how many ships you buy, or steal. so knock yourself out obtaining whatever ship you wish, the good stuff stays with you!

Welcome to the boards both of you! And it looks like you're not exactly "newbies", either of ya! Yes, the cloaking device, particle beam, and the tractor beam all stay with your ship, unlike in EVO. Kestrals are very good ships, I heard, as I've never flown one. Straight from 'Vette to Destroyer.

And another thing; unlike EV, in EVO, you can't keep the Cloaking Device.

I actually edited EV in Res Edit, so I was able to keep the cloaking device with all my ships. But that's kind of cheating.
