You've got a point there...If the Argosy is such a terrible ship, then why did the makers of Pale make a Mod-Argosy? They obviously had some reason, since the ship proves to be a potenial warship...
I don't believe the Defender can even hold a missile rack, much less a few missiles.

Who ever sayed that the Destroier was made out of an Argosy because its strong is some what wrong.The reason they made the Destroier out of an Argosy is because the Redels were poor and reserch was slow.Engeniers came and suggested the chep strong ship that could be changed to fit the Redels. The idea was good so the "poor" Rebels agreed.

Hehe...Even if the player was to sale his laser cannons, all he could do was buy a missile rack with five missiles. Not worth it, especially for such a wimpy ship.
I think I've also just found out that the Defender is a better ship then the Krait. They both have the same shield stats, but the Defender has a much better shield recharge rate, and it much faster. Hard to believe...

And, "Yes." In my opinion the Scoutship is not only better than an Argosy, it is the most under estimated ship.

The Scoutship is a great ship. It's cheap, and with proper upgrades makes a great fighter.
In my opinion the Rebels should have modified it to make their fighter, not use a weak little Manta.

SilverDragon you seem to like every ship,i guess evry ship has it's own pro's and con's so i really have no idea but i would like a ship that is respably good in all area's........if possible
I hate all Confed military ships, and dislike how the Rapier performs (I love how it looks though).
I hate the Courier, Light Freighter, Bulk Freighter and have a low opinion of the Manta.
The Defender is pretty rubbish too. Although visualling I like it.
Ships I like: Shuttlecraft, Scoutship, Argosy, Clipper, Lightning, Corvette, Kestrel, Rebel Destroyer, Rebel Cruiser, Alien Fighter, Alien Cruiser.
Not quite EVERY ships, but a lot of them that come up.
My favourites are the Rebel Destroyer, Kestrel and Lightning.
Oh, and those Defender stats going around are wrong, I think.
Since when has the Defender had a speed of 275? That makes it slower than the Clipper (300), Lightning (350?) and MUCH slower than a well upgraded Rebel Destroyer.

I just checked all the ship's stats. It wouldn't be outside the Rebel's capability - they made a similar increase from the Argosy to Rebel Destroyer.
The Clipper would also be quite a good ship, but it's a little expensive, which definately isn't what the Rebels would want.

Believe me, A Defender's secondary name is Trash. The Manta is a fast and excellent ship, well suited to turn a Defender to scrap metal. I even like to buy a Manta as my own ship...
Maybe someday I could make a plugin for Escape Velocity that gives the Rebellion a fighter based on the Clipper design?
