Endings of the Confed - Rebel War

This topic is for speculation on how the Confed - Rebel war is going to end.

Please be serious about it. Even if you're Rebel mad, please understand that
the Confeds still have SOME power.

Also, don't spend 20 lines talking about how good Confeds/Rebels are. There are
memos up for that type of thing. This is purely for speculation on how the
war will end, if it ever will end.

I've always had my own little story in mind: The Confederation masses together an imense fleet, and makes their way toward Pashlife. The attack fails do to Rebel strategies and ambushes. The core worlds, with nothing to defend themselves from the Rebels, await their fate. The Rebels counterattack, making their way for earth itself. There, the remains of the Confederation Navy and dominating Rebel fleet fight. Eventually, earth is captured by the Rebellion...

Anyway, that's always hung in the back of my head. πŸ™‚

...speculation on how the war will end, if it ever will end.

Thinking as dispassionately as possible,SilverDragon, I do not see the conflict ever really ending. (See 20th Century Earth: Croatia, Ireland, the Middle East and ... how many Southerners still claim "The South Shall Rise Again!"....)

There are enough members of each side (with "too tiny" frontal lobes) who probably do not even know why the fighting started. It is just what they know / how they live....

I always sort of thought that the confeds would attack Yemuro but lose a 9/10 of there ships doing that, so that a rebel counterattack easily conquers it back, along with all the confederate ships that were docked happened to be siezed. The rebellion then used the liberation fleet + the captured ships to conquer Cappella. Using the riches of Capella they then build a huge fleet and set it off toward Earth. At the same time another fleet attacks Ruby in a collossol battle that made the Confederation give up either Ruby or Earth, which one to defend? It's obvious they'd choose Earth to save so Ruby falls and the rebels sieze all the ships/designs. That huge fleet then moves toward Earth. The confederation is defeated, end of story. At least until people rebel against the corrupt Rebellion... Maybe I should make a plug about that?

Do you see how no one is suggesting any thing about the win of the confeds. Cearly the number of Rebels out weighs the number of Feds.THATS GOOD. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜„

The truth is: The Confeds are really proud, arrogant weirdos. πŸ™‚

You're right, Rebel Council: I guess the opening image of Escape Velocity gave us all the idea that Earth does eventually fall into Rebellion hands.

Well, here's one for the Confeds:

The Confeds mass their fleet and attack Turin and Spica. The Rebels move to attack
them, but a decoy fleet moving through Polaris draws them away.

The Confeds steal the designs for the Rebel Destroyer and Rebel Cruiser, and begin
mass producing them faster than the Rebels can. The Rebels strike at Turin, but
with a seriously weakened force to the north they can't take it.

They attack from the south and sweep through into the Sol system, where the greedy
Confeds have over 4000 warships ready. The Rebels are crushed, and the Confeds
retaliate by striking south. They are defeated by Rebel ambushes.

But by the the Confeds have another fleet comprised of CONFED Destroyers and CONFED
Rebel Cruisers. They move to attack Satori, ignoring the other Rebels and drawing
forces from the south away by sending everybody from Ruby south in a run.

Palshife is taken, but the Rebels fight on. However, soon the northern Rebel space
is taken, the Confeds have the plans for Rebel ships, and the Rebels lack a capital.

Soon the tide is turned, and the Confeds reign triumphant.

Until one day when all the ACTUAL EV players gather together in their Reb. Cruisers,
Reb. Destroyers and Kestrels (and any other ships) and with a tiny force they
overthrow the Confeds and end up killing each other off.

In the end only one person survives - and it's not me, because I'm not very good
at this game. πŸ™‚ - Well, I am QUITE good.

Well, I always hear about pilots who fly Rebel Ships but have 6 Confed warships as escorts. The idea's plausible, but I don't think that the fat cat Confeds would be willing to use enemy designs.

As I see it, currently (in the game) the confeds do not consider the rebels a serious threat. They treat them like a large pirate organization.

Now, when the confed leadership wakes up (REBELS CAPTURE RIGEL!, film at eleven), scientists will be recruited, factories from the alien war refurbished, new ships produced with obscene powers, and things get Serious.

The rebels respond with a desparate buildup of their own. New weapons are made. Ten-thousand-ship confed fleets sweep through the fringes unopposed (unopposable), while rebel "lightning strike" forces bomb earth and the heart of the confederation with cloaked antimatter munitions. With their infrastructure destroyed, the confed fleets break up into factions staking out turf on the fringes and less damaged planets, and filled with a consuming hatred of "the rebels".

A dark age descends on the explored galaxy, with the surviving rebel fleet containing the last fragments of mankind's knowledge and struggling to hold off ex-confed warlords hungry for scarce resources and vengence.

Yeap...Even in Confederation comm quotes, they seem to mock the Rebels and depict them as a small band or pirates. I think otherwise...If the Confederation thinks the Rebel ships are so pathetic, then why do Rebel ships have so many supporters? I think the Confederation is too overconfident...

Considering the originally posted question, I have a different idea of how it may end:

I wonder if the Confederation would "go the way" of all the feudal systems of the past (Europe in the Middle Ages, Japan's Sammuri, etc.)? As technology, education and communication became more readily available to "the masses," the Feudal Lords lost more and more of their grip....

Seems to me that an end really could be in sight. The Rebellion has already learned how to improve warship production to a point where the Rebels are more productive than the Confeds. The more ships, the more travel. The more travel, the more education. The more education and travel, the more communication.

How 'bout that? The Confed's really ARE doomed....

That's a good way to view the outcome of the war...From all the posts I've seen under this topic, it seems as though everyone has a good reason for why the Rebellion should / would win.

I personally think that the Confed - Rebel war will never end.

The Rebels will soon score a great victory, and then the Confeds will get a great
weapon.

The Rebels will steal it and do more damage, and then something interesting will
happen like a new government forms.

But it will never end. With forces as large as that it's truely impossible.

PS: I like the one about the Confeds becoming small groups of thugs. πŸ™‚
