I wouldn't call it the mother of all Macs; my G4 is probably better than yours. 😛

OK, I've got version Mac OS 9.0.4, and 256 MB of built-in memory. You?

------------------

G4 400mhz (PCI Graphics :frown: )
10GB Hard Drive (way to small)
256Mb of RAM (I need to double that)
17" monitor (good, but 21" would be sooo much better)
DVD ROM (no complaints there)
Internal Zip 100 (too bad it's not 250 but it works)
The compact keyboard that came with all macs
for a while is great, in my oppinion, but I replaced the
puck with a IntelliMouse Explorer.

I originally set out to buy a G3 and found out G4s were out,
so I though, "cool, the low end G4 is cheaper and faster than the G3 I was going
get". So I bought it, and found out a few days after I got it about the mother board thing,
man was I mad. It's a great computer anyway though.

What Evula is trying to say. Is the G4 Cube is not the Highest End Mac..The PowerMac G4 is..Now the G4 is even farther ahead..133Mhz Bus..4X AGP.. And then we could get into expandability. The G4 has a different Motherboard architecture also.. UMA.. The G4 is some custom thing or something..But saying..CUbe is not the mother of all Macs..It is the pretty low end mac for people who don't need the power of the powermac g4 but want something better than a imac.

------------------

I think i've got the most raw power here:
A 500mhz Dual-Processor G4 AGP Graphics
256MB RAM
20GB Hard Drive
Radeon 32DDR Graphics Card
17' Apple Studio Display

My other Comps:
A PowerComputing Powercenter 150 upgraded with a 445mhz G3 Card
A Mac Classic (B&W;) 4mhz 60MB Hard Drive
A 1999 model Powerbook G3 233mhz 32MB RAM
A Gateway 2000 Pentium 1 PC 60mhz 1.5GB Hard Drive 50MB RAM.

Wow, I think I can safely say I have the worst computer on the board (although feel free to correct me).
It's a Performa 400, but I do have it maxed out so it's got 12mb RAM (but remember the LCII was crippled and can only address 10mb) and the old processor, I forget the number (68030 maybe). I've even got an external quad speed CD drive.
I have no where near the patience to go online with the thing, but I've got some cool games on it (EV, Realmz, Civ, Syndicate etc). My No.1 'puter is my 500mhz IBM thinkpad that I got through an insurance payout. I'd run EV on it, but then I wouldn't really use the mac and hence wouldn't appreciate the hideousness of all things microsoft.

Well, I did say in my original message "soon obsolete".

------------------

I say the best computer is one fast enough to play the game and make fast ships blur with the speed, well not your ships but fast ships like the ? (lost for fast ships in EV), possibly the Manta, certainly the Talon Firefly, which I am playing at the moment, and especially (here I noticed the effect) the Cresent Warship in EVO.
Also, the computer must be fast enough to play well on 100% game speed, why?, spo when you have run out of fuel but have a ramscoop, who can put it on 225% and doubled speed with capslock. hehe

I Luv my G4 (just rubbing it in)

Interested in EV? Interested in an RPG on it? Play an online RPG based on it at (url="http://"http://www.oxy-web.com/uev")www.oxy-web.com/uev(/url) PS, Confed players welcome

My machine is a PeeCee, built by an independent store (brand names are total ripoffs). AMD Athlon 800MHz (Eat my dust, Pentium), 20GB, 128MB, TNT2 32MB, Soundblaster Live, 17" monitor (usually running at 1600x1200 or 1280x960), DVD-ROM, CD-RW. I woulda got a G4 but could not afford it, and iMacs are just too crap. I also have an LC 575 with 20MB, and we just got given a Performa 580 which is almost identical. Never could work out how to install EV into Executor... and SoftMac 2000 recognised by ripped ROM file, but didn't recognise my hard drive image.

Put it this way that one is dead. It's having its 2nd meltdown.

Wow! I am impressed with the toys most of you have.

7500/100
48 mb Ram (need more)
9.0.4
56k modem

(With this RAM and this modem, it is SLOW on the Internet, but I don't download much graphics ... or any music.)

------------------
Let's see what this button does....

i can say the original comp i used for ev is the worst
its a quadra 700 only 50mhz like 16mb ram and like 80mb hard drive(i may be wrong about this) the one i use now is a G3 powerbook(the cool balck one that has clesr plastic parts) has 233mhz and other stuff my new comp is a windows
it has 600mhz 64mb ram 22gb hard drive and 65k modem(i just got it so i haven't been able to upgrade it) oh yeah the floppy drive is a 60x and the CD is 50x
my parents has a DVD a CD burner 500mhz and other stuff less than mine
i also have a performa i only know it has 300mhz lets see anybody name a worse computer than my quadra 700! 😄

------------------

I have probably the best computer here...

My Mac doesnt work so the PC i use....

I have a 1.5 gigahertz AMD processor, 256 megs of RAM, Dolby Surround Sound 4 speakers w/ subwoofer, OpenGL 3D Card with 32 megs of mem I think, 80 gig hardrive, a cable modem, Windows 98, and the Executor emulator.

My Executor emulator is about to expire, so I have to reinstall it, but thanks to Rebel Council, I have a good pilot to use (if i can figure how to insert it into the game!), and my personal pilots are all backed up for reinsertion.

I suggest all of you get PC's and install Mac OS under an emulator(Executor costs $60 i think), and just use Mac OS instead of Windows....These machines are pretty cheap and run better than most Macs, including my old one.

Not for long, I'm selling these and buying a POWER G4!!! Yiipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

------------------
Countdown 'till my G4 arrives:
3 days
AAARRGGGHHH!!! I can't wait that long!!

Not all these can run EV, but I have...

An original Mac 128k (still runs too)

A rare Macintosh TV, I use it often to watch TV. Has 8 megs of ram, a disk drive and a cd drive, and an external zip, only thing I use it for now besides TV is to transfer stuff from disk to zip, so I can use it on my other computer.

A dead powermac 7200/120, with 64 megs of ram. Used it for over two years.

And my g4, running at 350 mhz, with a measly 128 megs of ram and OS 9.1 on my 13 gig hard drive. And OS X PB, soon to be OS X 1.0 on my 4.3 gig scsi hard drive.

Also my family has:

A g3 233 with 160 megs of ram.

A graphite iBook with 128 megs of ram.

A blueberry iBook with 96 megs of ram.

A Macintosh Centris 660 AV, with 40 megs of ram. First played EV on this.

A pc laptop and 3 pc desktops.

All the newer computers are connected to the internet via our lan, which is connected to dsl running at 640kb downstream/256kb upstream.

PowerBook 520c, 160MB HD, 12MB RAM, 25Mhz 040 Processor.
