Tell us your favorite type of mission in Uplink, excluding the special missions. Do you like trace transfers? Do you like removals? Do you like social security hacks?
I like LAN hacks the most. The bigger the LAN, the better :).

My favorite missions, without question, are the ones where you have to hack a LAN, copy files, and add them to a file server. I find hacking LAN'S fun, getting a file server to use as a bounc point and storage, plus the added thrill with the element of a LAN admin kicking you off.

Either a mission with access to a fileserver, or a mission that generates money for you to steal.

I have to agree there!!!
LANS are fun and complicated and interesting and always a bit different - they're like great big puzzles you have to solve. Also, if you don't do anything silly - like using LAN Force to get past locks - you have loads of 'pressure-free' time to figure things out.

Probably the "removal job" missions.
They pay a whole lot, and don't require much effort!
------------------ Maniak hacks like crazy!
Money from missions is for pansies, that's what banks are for!
LANs rule. It's a pity there aren't any truly monsterous ones.

I love doing three or four removal mission in one or two hacks. The best is doing a coupld of removal missions(breaking into the GCD and altering records to get people arrested) and then also taking a Frame for Computer Crimes assignment and altering your trace at the InterNIC so that their computer is linked to the break in!!!! AWESOME!!!!

I like missions where I can completly undo what I was supposed to do.
Delete a file missions: I backup the file to my computer, then delete it from target, report mission as complete, get paid and then put the file back like it never left. My employer paid for nothing
Change an record: I change it, report as done and then after getting money make it worse then it started. Change a C to an A eh? how about an F and you are a "Certified Neanderthal" to boot.
Help someone make a Donation: I give them the money, get paid, and then take it from.
maybe I'm just really a white hacker at heart..... Or maybe its because deleting the file can screw up 'steal it' missions you get later.

I always do the opposite. They want me to get rid of qualifications and I put them back immediately after getting payment.
That still won't help your Neuromancer rating...

Yeah, but when Uplink starts generating the same missions over and over again because the employer keeps seeing that the qualifications aren't as they'd like, it can be quite amusing.

I like the account info missions. They are an easy way to get money once you have the bypassers, and you get account names to use when you rob the bank (I've heard that it can be done, but I don't know how... Help?)

The trick lies in pulling it off the first time... modlink.net has the guide to robbing banks, I think. The ASW Uplink Add-Ons page also has one. Just remember to delete your logs FAST. Banks have one of the -- if not THE -- fastest passive traces in the game. If you get an email stating that your Uplink rating just went up, you've pulled it off. You can now relax.
If you get really confident, you can try hacking into the admin, getting all the account information, and cleaning them out one by one. Be careful here, though, as this is where -- if you're not EXTREMELY careful -- the passive trace will get you. Bypassers are awesome, but they don't stop somebody looking through logs.
Almost forgot: there ARE some truly monstrous LANs, but they're plugs. modlink.net, as always, is the best place to look for them. They also have some rather nice gateways... I personally recommend AWOL Computing's GTO.

Academic database changes. You can do like 5 at once and they are usually around the 3000c range so you cant go bad there.

I like the "find financial details on one of our accociates" missions, with the loans. 80% of the time, it is 0.

I would have to say my favorite missions were "Destroy A Mainframe" or whatever it's called and LAN's. Those were always fun.

My favorite mission type eh? Well I would have to agree with everybody that LAN hacks are the best. But, I also think it's fun to just mess with systems in general. And sometimes, it's fun to trace hackers, even though it lowers your Nuromancer rating, it's hard. By the way, I stole the uplink agents list, and tried to bust the Agents out of jail by clearing their records, but when I did, nothing happend. I am assuming this is just the way that it works. Anyone have a differnt idea of what to do with all these names other than sell them?
