Is the search feature missing from what, the webboard, one of the databases in Uplink, or something else? We will need to know this to answer your question.

Andrew temporarily disabled the search feature of the webboards due to the immense download traffic of wiretap downloads.
The webboards aren't having any traffic related problems right now so it may be back up soon.
