manual and 'tribute board'

Seeing that there are a few new names/faces around, I figured I'd point out:

as well as
(url="http://"http://www.avara.org/ca/avaranet/tribute/")http://www.avara.org...aranet/tribute/(/url)

The first is a guide of sorts geared mostly towards mid-level and new players, but also a somewhat entertaining place to browse for older players MB : ) 'Tribute board' is a place to post thoughts ("tributes") about Avara.

(I don't like to see these things go unused)

Any "old" players lurking out there? Be nice to see a response..

Speaking of new faces, who are you? I've been playing Avara since a week after the game came out. A second, third, fourth, etc., nick name might be helpful in my recognizing you.

Thanks. I'm a newbie to Avara, just dl'd it a few days ago and have yet to register it (gonna do that as soon as I get the money together). A friend of mine, Quantum Transcendence (aka QT) should be joining in the boards in a few days. I just dl'd D'Keeper's Last Dance level set yesterday... What did he/she/it mean by the things about Avara dying? Looks like it's doing fairly well, with its own share of scandals (just got through reading several topics about EdgarHons getting banned). Would some of you more experienced players mind giving me tips about the online play (chances are, since we only have one phone line in our house, I'm not going to be able to play online for a while, but I'll work as hard as I can to rectify that situation). Besides, once I get a second phone line for this computer, I think I'd like to make this a server. How do I go about doing that?

The biggest tip I can give you is while playing the solo levels, practice your grenade tossing. Get as accurate with them as possible - especially while running both forward and backwards, and tossing to your left and right while doing that.

Also practice combination tosses - a missile followed quickly by a grenade and a few laser hits. Go back to some of the harder solo levels and try to do it with all grenades. If you set your prefs to show all articles, several other people have asked this question. Some of the other answers may help you further.

As far as the server instructions, RTFM - it's all there. Actually it's fairly easy. I'm sure when you bring up the avara window you'll see the "start server" button, right next to the "connect to server" button.

Hey, I'm still 'around', though it's been a good long while since I've bothered playing Avara. Last time I checked the tracker, there weren't even any games listed.

Ahh, for the good old days of '97....

Anyone want to blow up this old, rusted, Hector jockey?
