I wonder, how do you have net games with people that aren't at your house. I've only played my sister and brother using TCP-IP, and even then, I had to use an Ethernet cable. I also have no idea what AppleTalk is. Also, if there is a way, will someone please have a net game with me?

GameRanger is a good way to play net games...

I saw that. There were a bunch of different senarios. (SP?) How do you set it up and all that. My address is 192.168.2.100.
Well, the first thing to do is open Gameranger. It's a combination of internet-chat-thing and game connector, like Battle Net. To host a game, go to File: Host Game. It'll open up a game room that people can join if they want. When somebody shows up and the two of you agree to play, you click on "start game" and it automatically connects you and starts a net game.* As far as net scenarios, make sure you have a scenario in "ares net scenarios," and that both of you are using the same one. If you don't have any net scenarios, go to (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/ares/addons.html")http://www.ambrosias...res/addons.html(/url) and you can download some of them.
*Most of the time. It sometimes has issues.

A couple things to add:
- When you Host a Game, there should be a pop-down menu. You should select Ares there.
- If you don't see Ares in the menu, then you'll need to add Ares to your game list. I don't recall precisely where you add it, but there's definitely a section in preferences where you do that.

Ok, lets have one with "Babylon Five" scenario right now. (Or as soon as you read my post) I'll be waiting as long as I can.

Ok, I'm all set up and ready. games the only ares game (so far) in the place, and only one person can join.
PLEEEEEASE hurry!
I know, I'm impatient
Well, I got on, and our game didn't work out very well.
You can talk on GR, so you can share IPs and manually connect, as well, which I was trying to get to happen before I had to go.
I am often on Game Ranger around this time (see time of posting), and for a couple of hours before and up to one hour after...
Join me in battle sometime!
------------------ Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...

This means you are behind a router and cannot host games. Check this link for information on how to play as the host: (url="http://"http://www.gameranger.com/help/hosting/")http://www.gamerange...m/help/hosting/(/url)
I suspect you don't have the technical skill to reconfigure your router, so I recommend you either only join games on GameRanger or find a local tech wiz to help ya.

Carbon lib helps alot too.

Actually, CarbonLib is COMPLETELY unnecessary to play Ares. Ares does not use the Carbon API, because at the time Ares was programmed Carbon simply did not exist. I would suggest not acting as techsupport when you don't know what you're talking about
