I don't really like the system that much, either, although I don't have control over it. In my opinion, the best method for tourneys is the one used in drafts (a kind of magic card tourney). Each player plays each other player one round of three, and at the end, whoever has won the most rounds wins, second most gets second, etc.. Only problem with it is somebody always wins zero rounds, which makes it suck to be them.

Well, it didn't happen. Mag and I can't play each other because neither of us can successfully host. So now what?

You need to start the game, but before you need to know the others IP, than start up Ares and click join net game, using TCP/IP and type in the IP, it should work

I think I can host for you guys if you can give me a time. Should be able to host within Ares and set it so server doesnt play...(this is possible, there is an option)

The reason it is best vs worst throughout the tourniment is because it seems that the "worst" players ranked on the ladder are actually quite good, and vice versa. As you can see, there's been alot of upsets in this tourniment.
The NCAA does the same thing. It awards the team that worked the hardest through the season to get a #1 seed for the final tourny by having them play lower seeded teams. However, sometimes the lower seeded teams are actually a bunch of slackers and turn it up when it really counts. It's actually a very good setup if ya think about it for awhile.
By the way, Overrider and I have finished our game, but we're still waiting on 2 more games to come in...
the deadline is wendesday the 17th -- get the submissions in so we can get on with the "interesting" final round.
BTW: There might be a losers tourniment bracket as well as a winners tourniment bracket... word on that once the tourniment ends.
I'm going to be heading off to New Zealand tomorrow, for a 3 week vacation with minimal internet. As such, I believe that I must be leaving the tournament.
