map acting funny

help!

help! i'm making an extension to the the "mideval" game provided with coldstone, and i made this new map, i'm calling it "Hidden Cave" and when i view it with the map editor it looks fine, but when I play the game, it shifts the access over to the left about 2 moving squares, and all the ground tiles are different!

please help!

Hi ktheman, welcome to the boards.

Most likely, you have not set the dimensions for the ground tiles correctly. With your map editor open, click and hold on the tools button near the top left of the screen. Now slide over to "Change map dimensions." Make sure that movement tiles are set at 32 & 32 and ground tiles are set at 96 & 96. Please let us know if this does not fix your problem.

Actually, RD, he sounds like he's hit the 'I'm running in OSX so I don't like Maps' Coldstone bug. At least for me, the access layer is never, ever in sync with the other layers - from memory, it shifts about a tile and a half to two tiles to the up and left - basically, you can walk on water, etc, etc. However it doesn't do it as measured by the other layers, so you can't even plan for it.

I'm guessing that you are running in OSX, ktheman? If not - try as RD suggested. Fingers crossed 🙂

Since my daddy has not yet bought me OSX, and I'm running OS 9.2, I didn't know this. However, ktheman also said .....

which leads me to believe that both problems may be present.

ktheman, if you read this, please post back about what is happening so that we all may learn.

Thanks, ~RD

thanks guys! 🙂

i realized that i had the ground tiles as 32x32 and not 96x96

oops.

I am using OSX, and this has never happened to me. Perhaps you are using 10.3?

It used to happen for me in 10.1 and 10.2. I haven't even installed Colstone onto my 10.3 machine since I upgraded - as with each system update it got less and less stable for me. This is just one of those bugs that happens to some people, I think. It might not happen on my new powerbook, but I'd need to install it to find out - and of course, I'm using 10.3.6 on this machine.

Ah well. That's life.
