Well, I dont feel like paying for a animation studio app, or if anybody could tell me a good one for mac os 9.0 thats free, i would like to request some, so who here could make some cutscences and graphics and such for my game (You would get a special thank you on the credits). I would like to request some images:
A Good graphics hero that looks like the original hero made by coldstone (for cutscenes and if good enough the game).
Some monsters and such for battling.
A battle scene (Like in ps2 games such as Final Fantasy, where you have random battles, I would like a scene like when you are in a random battle, This idea cannot be copied).
And tons more, but I dont want this to be a list to china, so just tell me if your willing and Ill type some more requests.
Another thing, Ive been waiting to buy coldstone for a long time, my demo has run out (about 3 more days) and Im desprate!!!!!!! When Will you start selling it again... Im really desperate! PPLLLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE

To the Coldstone community members: Since I have already answered the points (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum1/HTML/001556.html#")here(/url) in the Ambrosia Banter forum, let's start by telling gamingstaff what art programs you use and why. Like many members of our community, he's on a low budget and is in need of graphic assistance. I don't expect his email will be flooded with "tons" of new art, but I know many of you have had similar problems when you were starting.
I suggest we turn this thread into a "how to get started" rather than a "please send me."

thanks rubberducky. should i post some requests or should i just wait, or what.
I don't really have many low budget apps. My dad gets Photoshop, Illustrator, Strata 3D etc so I use them. One tool that a lot of people use is the paint part of Appleworks. Or you could try Graphics Converter

Hi gamingstaff and welcome to the Coldstone board.
If anyone is interested, they'll post here. Your request is pretty demanding of time, though, and many people, like myself, are working on their own game.
I personally don't know of any free apps that will help you make anything decent, but I haven't looked into it. I do wish you the best, though.

Well actually, all i basically want is a animation program/software for free that runs on PPC (a.k.a, 9.0), i dont care how good it is, i just want one. thnks
and im trying to make icons for my game using adobe photoshop, but all the images are square. how do i make it so the image is just the image (example: the coldstone app. icon is just a tree, and if you put it on a blue desktop, it would still be just the tree, no white square around it). Ive tried transparent and saved optimized as... but none of them seem to work, and if its a software that does it, whats a good one to use?

All of Coldstone's graphics have a white square as the background. Coldstone sees pure white (#FFFFFF) as transparent. So you can make an image on a white background, then place it in a Coldstone map, and you can't see the white, just the image.
Sigh, no i meant for apps...how do you make an icon for a application. you know...icon, the coldstone one is a tree...i making mine in Adobe photoshop but there is always a white square around my pic. (Do you understand? Icon for app. not image for maps, icon for app.)

Draw the Icon you want in any art program (Appleworks will do just fine) and then select that image and chose "copy." Now go to the application and select "get info" from the file menu. An info box comes up with a file icon in the top left corner. Click on that icon and a box appears around it. Now paste your new icon in the box. Your application now has a custom icon. You may have to play with the size of your drawing a bit to get it to look right. I would be best to start by copying an existing icon onto your work page to give yourself a idea of size before you start your drawing. (Most of the icons on my desktop are custom icons.)

Hrm. Well, I know that MacAddict gave away a few free versions of 3D apps a few years back - Amapi, I believe, probably one or two others. You could probably get backissues of the magazine with the applications. If you were on OSX, I'd say pick up a copy of Alias|Wavefront's Maya, as they have a free version available - the Personal Learning Edition, I believe - that might be what you're looking for...
Have a browse around on Versiontracker, too - might find something worthwhile there.

ive downloaded Amapi, haven't tryied it out yet, but its not for free, so i got the trial version. so...yeah.

What I was actually referring to was a bundle deal with the magazine - on their monthly CD, they had a free version of Amapi available, as well as the next version up. I think it was in the 2.5 range, although I'd need to hunt for the CDs to be sure. It was a full version though, but I never really got into it as I'm not much of a graphics type.
You could probably still get that issue, if you asked. If you like, I can try to figure out which issue it was, and I can give you the necessary details.
well i know how to make an icon and copy and paste it, but i use adobe photoshop, and use the wand tool, but when i copy and paste it on get info, there is a white block around it, and ive already tried making the background transparent. how do i select it without all the layers messing up?
Search macupdate.com for "Iconographer". It's a nice little program where you... make icons! You can make masks and stuff (masks make the icon "not square".
Good luck.

Thanks, thats what i wanted.
Well, i was thinking about it, and could there be any way i could make animation using Adobe Photoshop? cause I zoomed in on all the graphics that comes with coldstone, and the are all just pixels, square pixels, like every image ive made. so if i zoomed in and tried to make a character by just looking at the pixels instead of the whole picture itself.

Yes, you can. you need to make each individual frame in Photoshop. Then in coldstone make a new animation and add all of the frames you created. How to set up the animation will depend on what type of animation you want to make.

Well I was thinking two kinds, first of all, i told my drawing/portrait designer to draw a goblin NPC, so then i could zoom in on photoshop and look at the pixels, so then i could erase, and draw him moving his legs and attacking and stuff in the same way it was origanally drawn. Ill put up the picture in Coldstone webpics (speaking of which, will anyone steal the images put on there? cause all you would have to do would be drag and drop it on you desktop and bang, you just stole someones picture). I think thats how ill do from now on if i cant find a good character/design program. goes to put pic in coldstone pics
I doubt anyone would steal them. Most people here seem to have law as their religion and the rest probably won't need your graphics anyway^^. Except for me... Sneaks into pics board to steal pics :F
Editation: Aww.... there's nothing there! Cry Cry

Well, it wouldn't be (i decided to update it and make it more clear first, cause when i scaned it, it came out all fuzzy, so i had to redo it using adobe photoshop and put color in and stuff, once i finish ill put it up there). And i found the program amapi design demo ( demo lasts for stinking 90 Days!?! ), and that seems good, except one thing...how do i use it? i think im better off just editing drawings made by my character design/portrait guy, hes a wonderful drawer, and i can scan and clean up his pictures, then edit them so they can do attack moves and junk.
