Is there any chance of a progress report on how the update is coming along? Its been a while now and i haven't heard anything. Does anyone know what the status of it is?
I would imagine this this thread will be swiftly locked, but i think its only fair we be kept in the loop.
------------------
The last I heard was that most of the re-makable bugs had been fixed. After that I have heard nothing.

You have a legitimate request and there is no reason to lock it (unless the thread takes a plunge downhill.) It would be nice if Carmelissa, herself, were to give us an idea of what's happening, but I do not think she wanders by here with any frequency.
A request to the community: Please post if you have true, pertinent, information. Please do not post your frustrations with the lack thereof. We are all aware of the discomfort concerning the status quo.
p.s.: (small print) Pilky can probably fill you in on all the details he and Carm talk about. He's the only one who claims to have insider information. (/small print)

But there really should be something happening... Anything... With no news, it's totally mormal to get anxious, suspicious... And it's a vicious circle... With no release and no more OS9 on sale, there are no games released... No competition, no motivation... Instead of increasing the number of coldstone users, it gets less interesting every day... Really, sorry to say it that way... Once again : I have great fun with the coldstone demo and think this software is huge... I thank Beenox for the version they made and wish them good luck for the osX update. People in charge of the update should post a short word... Ambrosia should relase a new demo with more feature... We should all be more positive and patient... I should stop posting boring frustrated messages... etc...

Otherwise this thread will experience lockdown.

It seems you still don't believe that I talked to Carm. The thing is that that was the last thing she said to me. I haven't seen here for over a month now. I hope she gets the update out soon cause I'm getting panther soon and I want my games to work.
I can understand the frustration of those who can't buy the software even though it works right on some OS's. The thing is that those of us that have bought CS were even more frustrated before we heard about the update as we had bought a piece of software that was going obsolete. You must understand that it is a lot of work to do. The source code was meant to have been very poorly commented and Carm is trying to fix bugs she can't always reproduce. Have faith, perhaps she is fixing PoG so she can release both fixes to the beta testers at the same time.

It is your choice of words which makes me disbelieve this. Carm is based in Rochester, NY, and you give your location as Accrington, England. Yet the phrases, "I talked to Carm," "she said to me," "I haven't seen her for over a month now," indicate a face-to-face conversation. Maybe you did meet her in person. I would find the phrases, "I wrote to Carm," "Her reply was . . ," "we haven't corresponded for . . ." to be a lot more easy to believe.
You might be inclined to toss this aside as mere semantics, but the truth is that you have not communicated what really happened.
Seen her = Logged on AIM Talked to here = Instant Messaged her
Most people talk about communicating via IM as meeting someone as you are in effect talking to them. It is the same as Telephoning. A lot of people say "I talked to her last night" or something like that.

I can accept that. At least I now know what did happen. Thanks for the clarification.
Maybe someone else should get her AIM. Seeing that Pilky is in UK, the time diference is large. So catching her on AIM could be rather dificult. As she would have to be on early in the day and Pilky late in the day. You shouldn't just go throwing the AIM around though as it is her own and we don't want to wrong her. Some news would be a good idea for Ambrosia.

I have been in contact with her over AIM, however that was about a month ago. Back then she said that she hadn't gotten much done that week because they where being swamped with lost code requests.

As idon't tend to sleep, and live in the US Central Time Zone, i have not seen carm online in about 3-4 weeks.
I have been online @ just about every odd hour, and carm used to stay online for hours @ a time in and out.
Anyhow hasn't been online for quite sometime now, i attributed it to spring break..
anyone's guess, .. in the meantime, party like its May 31st

Is there a list of the bugs that have been fixed and the ones that hopefully are going to be fixed?
I really would like to know if my favorite bug - quicktime movies and mp3 on win98/Me - is going to be fixed.

Thanks for keeping this thread open
It would be nice if we could get an official statement on this from someone at ambrosia, I really want to start working on my game again but until some of the bigger bugs are resolved (not running in 10.3, save games not working properly) i cant see a lot of point.
Yeah I think just about everyone in the CS community who uses AIM has talked to her at least once. I think she posted her AIM in that first post that she made. Anywho, much like everyone else, I haven't seen her on at all for a long time, and we live in the same time zone. I used to see her on constantly, at least with an away message. I thought it could have been a spring break, but that's a long spring break. Maybe she changed her AIM? Someone could e-mail her I suppose.
Anyway, I for sure know that she got it running in Panther, because she told me. Anything other than that I don't know, though I do recall her talking about working on the bugs in Glenn's list (I think it was Glenn).
Keep your fingers crossed.

By saying that she got most of the bugs that she can easily reproduce fixed probably means that she has fixed the Panther Bug, the Jaguar save bug and the Windows sound bug. I used to see her on quite often as she would be on when it is afternoon for me (the UK is 5-8 hours ahead of the US depending on where you are). It seems that nobody has seen her for several weeks. Perhaps she is just to busy fixing CS . Don't worry. I'm sure Ambrosia hasn't forgotten us.
Maybe she's not online due to all the 'what's fixed now' requests

So i take it from what i've read here, Cold Stone does not work on current Macs?, thats a shame since ive been wanting to buy it for ages. I'll wait another 2 years since there is no other application like it.
Coldstone works on Macs before Panther. I'm now using Coldstone on my Mac OS 9.2 to create a full-length game. Others are using it also. If I were finished, I could release it to Mac Classic and Windows now.
Ambrosia has temporarily pulled Coldstone from the shelves and is in process of fixing it. Most of this thread contains understandable expressions of frustration as well as a great deal of speculation. We don't know what the progress is. I happen to not be unhappy at all, nor am I discouraged. I'm busy making interior maps and linking interiors to the exterior world as well as creating events. I'm also pretty busy making graphics. By the time the update comes around, I shouldn't have missed a beat. But, that's my opinion.
