Morale

I have several bosses in Legends, and want them to seem to think that they are invincible(He will never run away). I currently have their morale set to 9000 and they still run away when they have about 3/4 life left. Is there a target morale that would work for what I want?

Set the morale to zero and they will fight to the death (of you or themselves.) With the morale set to 9000, they run as soon as they "see" that much damage done to themselves or others. You must have some heavy hitters. I've never seen morale set that high and don't know if it follows the same pattern.

Looks like I have been going at it the wrong way. I figured that the more morale the more fearless they would become.

Which is true. Except, that at 0 they're the most fearless, as technically you could put a really really really big number in morale and they would still not be invincible, so they decided to use 0.

On a side note (semi-related), I think that CS uses "Shorts" for most of its fields therefore, the maximum/minimum values for most fields are 32767 and -32768. Information from my Java book/personal experience. (And if you're wondering why my Java book would have the correct information, between C++ and Java most of the formats for "Primitive Types"--as they are called--are the same...). 😉

EDIT: So if the hero won't be able to deal 32767 damage to the boss, you can use that instead of 0... though I recall that there might be an engine-enforced cap on the morale field (not the others...). I'm gonna take a look at that...

Nope, no cap. Max Morale is 32767. 🙂

I tried setting the NPC's moral to 0, however he still runs away.

In the NPC editor, on the "Battle" tab, do you have him set for "Berserker" or something else?

Yes, I was going to say that if you set the enemy NPC to "berserker," then he will not run away. At least, that's my understanding.

I gave him the Mixed fighter in the "Battle" Tab. Is there a way to make it so he never runs away yet still will use a ranged weapon?

I'm pretty sure that an NPC can use a ranged weapon no matter how he's categorized. I think that the range category is to make the NPC ONLY use ranged weapons. But a berserker can use a ranged weapon. I simply haven't done that yet in the process of making my own game, so I could be wrong. I suggest that you choose berserker, and then try it with a ranged weapon. I'm pretty sure that will work for you.

If you're still missing the desired effect, consider scripting the boss' movements/attacks.
