I was looking through the preferences folder on my computer and I noticed that there was a file for Ghosts of Time. I opened it up and saw that it recorded the full screen setting of Ghosts of Time as well as the music volume. I also found one for OS9 and saw that the music volume was different. I was wondering if this could be expanded up and allow for variables to be saved.

Very good Find Pilky, however, I don't think that you could allow it to save other global information.

Since there is no action to save a variable and none to load it you cannot do this

I've noticed that if I choose a saved game, those preferences (screen and music) load in with the saved game. So if I'm playing my game and turn the music off (which I do with a keydown), I save the game, then quit. When I reopen the saved game, the music plays at first until it begins to load in the saved game, then the music goes off automatically. I suspect that's what you're seeing in your system folder.

Too bad it doesn't save which NPCs are dead.

It can do that if you individually name each NPC and give each one a global. Special quest NPCs do not come back to life once killed in PoG.

Well, yeah, thats sort of a given.
I know that you cannot access stuff like this at the moment but I was wondering if there is enough of a foundation there for Carm to expand on if she gets the time to add any new features. The ability to access certain variables before you load a game would be very helpful and storing them in a preferences file would be the logical way to do it.
