Coldstone won't work. I was making a game and I tried to test it to see if my game would do what I wanted it to, and it it would not start. it would get so the "Loading Game Data" bar was at half, and then unexpectedly quit. I made sure everything was right with the "StartGame" event and all the other stuff like it, and it was fine so I deleted the config file and made a new one. No luck. I deleted the coldstone prefs file. It still would not work. I tried to start a different game, and it did the same thing! (it would get so the "Loading Game Data" bar was at half, and then unexpectedly quit.) Then I did a search and deleted all files that said "coldsone" on them and reinstalled it. IT STILL WON'T WORK.

As for your topic title - please don't shout at us.
What OS are you using?

Sorry for the loud title. :frown: It's just that I have been fighting with this for over a week, and it still won't work. :frown:
I am using Mac OS 10.2.8 (if I was using panther, I would not have posted this topic ;))

He's clearly frustrated, RD. Shouting is a good way to get that out of you and to calm down. At least he didn't caps-lock the whole topic.

When you create a new game, choose the "medieval" game instead of beginning from scratch. Keep the main.cet after the game is created, as well as the Startup Screen location and dang near everything else in the events/def file. If you have your own picture for your startup screen, simply change the pic for the Startup Screen, (named EXACTLY the same as the old one). If you have your own map, drag it into the map folder, and make a "map" location, naming it exactly the same as your corresponding map. Then go into main.cet and change the map position, where you want the Player to teleport (in both right and left columns), but make sure you do NOT create your own main.cet. Just save it.
Look at the events required that's created by the medieval game to see what's required. But don't change them except for map position and teleport. I tried several times to begin from scratch, and it never worked; it did exactly what you're describing, so this is what I had to do.
From here, I changed nearly everything in the game interface folder. You CAN drag any events and maps and locations, etc from the game you've been working on into the corresponding folders of the new game. I suggest you do that from the Finder, and not while in Coldstone. As long as I didn't try to make my own opening events, things were fine.
If this doesn't work, let us know. Sometimes if a member wants me to, I've looked at a game and successfully troubleshooted.

Yoggy, I fully understand your frustration. Please bear with us as we try to find the problem.
Have you set Coldstone to open in classic mode?
Edit: Debra, with more experience than I, has probably found the root of the problem. ------------------ My Doctor said I was having too much wine, women, and song - so I gave up singing because 2 out of 3 is not so bad. I had this problem before. Try looking at your Yaru source and comparing it to your other source (having a working game saves you having to make a new medievil one). If you can't find the problem visually then try dragging some of the important events from Yaru to your new game (the "StartGame" and "Main" events). If that doesn't work then just make a new blank game and drag your files over. That often works for me. I just guess that it is Coldstone not setting up the game right

CS quitting in the middle of "loading data" probably means that it was unable to find a file it needed to continue loading. Go through all your events and all your maps and make sure that: 1. Map names and location names for them correspond EXACTLY (except for extension) 2. All teleport links are linking to the right maps 3. All pictures/images for all of your maps are where they are supposed to be (i.e. location pictures go in the Locations->Location pics folder) 4. Make sure that any events spawned from the main event work as they are supposed to and link to the proper events/items, etc. correctly 5. Double check your pictures (again :p), as you probably have a lot of them and by simply moving them you create the above-mentioned problem
From what you've said though, I assume it has more to do with your main screen. Make sure it's the right resolution and bit depth (16-32 bit (32 is iffy...) and 72 ppi/dpi) and that its image is in the right folder (see above). Good luck!
P.S. Debra, connect 4 was made from scratch and worked fine...

This game was not made from scratch. I made it from the Yaru Island source (was that a mistake?)
I guess I can try rebuilding the game from the medevil game thingie, but my main worry is that Coldstone is not working on ANY game.
Edit: ooo maybe I should try Coldstone in classic...

yay! I got it to load a game by deleting the prefs again.
But now it wont load my map :frown:
Oh well.
Maybe I can make it work somehow.
PS. Classic didn't work either.
If you work using the source of an already working game then it should work. I had this problem with space and I can't remember how I fixed it.
Yay! Now it seems to be working fine
Good job. I have just found out that I didn't manage to fix the problem with Space :frown:
I also found out that I couldn't use the "start from scratch"... So, I prepared in a separate folder a map called "Boberus City" wich is empty (only ground) and I'm replacing it when I'm creating a new "medieval" game... Then, I just need to change "map position"... And it works... But I still wonder if I can change my map size then (it's 100x100 defalt map) ?... I tried it and had some starnge things happening in my new map...

Changing map dimensions should not be a problem. What strange things happened? Did your ground tile dimensions have the correct ratio to your movement tile dimensions?
