I am using the player portrait in the Map interface to show the currently equipped weapon. I have set it up in the equip event of the weapon so that it changes the portrait to the weapon of the portrait. Now this works, but only when I go to a new area. Why wont it show up in the area it is equipped in? Please help

What a terrific idea!!
Perhaps having the refresh screen as part of your event would help.

No. Refresh screen doesn't work. I have tried making it an external event and using call event. I have tried pct and png but nothing works. One thing I haven't tried is making another item and seeing if it works when u switch from one item to another. I'll try that

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that portrait was tried before in a thread long ago, and it just would not work except in a "static" interface like statistics.

If that's true, Debra, (and I'm sure it is); then why not use a picture like the Portraits picture and have it show up in the Dialog screen. I'm sure that updates often enough to solve the dilemma.

When you say the Dialog Screen I'm guessing you are talking about the Inventory. It shows up fine in there. It is on the Map Interface where I want it to show up. So that you know what weapon you are using without having to open the inventory

No, actually I mean the text area that show what you type in for the NPC conversations. But this wouldn't work the way you want it to work. Maybe you could have your character use the animation frames to update the Interface Screen. Step one-start loop, step two-update Interface... ect. Of course that would mean every time you Character moves, you would update the interface....

Since it will only change when you enter a new map you could have it save location then teleport to a main event and set that main location event link to load location. The main location would flash in front of the screen for a second but I believe it would fix your problem.
