I thought I had figured this out before, but I guess I never got that far..... How do you have an NPC use an equiped item?
P.S. I hope everyone had a good turkey day...I know I did! Mother's food is just soo good, I don't think we had to worry about leftovers .

You check off the item in the NPC's inventory list and he will use it when needed. Be careful about giving the NPC a health potion because it seems that when the NPC "uses" it, it does not disappear from his inventory list. So what happens is that he keeps using it over and over. That is why the Blue Dragon in Sapphire sometimes keeps generating health points faster than you can knock them down.

And this would allow the NPC to use an equiped item/weapon/armor? Sounds too easy.... I hope so. Thanks in advance.

Well that's the way it's supposed to work. I'd do an experiment first. Make a goblin, give him a strong weapon or good armor and see how easy (or difficult) it is to defeat him with a level one character.
Or give the goblin a range weapon like a web. That way, you can see if it works.

Aha! It has worked! An easy answer, good. I haven't had an easy fix in quite some time, working with timers, multipie characters, globals and all of that. This is a relief. Thanks RD, Debra!
