Hello, Origonally I was having problems with the Generate map pictures function in Coldstone it would just give an error saying "error creating drawing buffer. Try increasing the memory for this application" in OSX. I was told to use OS 9 and my computer doesn't supoort OS9. I remembered that my backup computer does work with OS 9. So, I attelpted to generate the map pictures on my backup computer in OS 9 and It gave me the same error. My Backup computer is a G3 400MHz iMac with 384MB of Ram and 200000Kb of memory allotted to Coldstone.

I would suggest that there is something that the CGE doesn't like about that map and it is generating a generic error message. Try making a very simple map as experiment and see if it will do a map picture for it. Tracing down the difficulty with your original map may be an arduous task. ~RD

I suggest that you try seeing if you can generate a map picture from the map window itself, and make sure the dimensions are good.

I can't seem to find anything wrong with any of my maps. None of them are corrupted(I discovered that if I create a new game and delete the exsisting picture previews and then atepmt to generate map pictures it will show that same error. I have also tried reinstalling Coldstone and deleting the Coldstone Preferences.
Have you made locations of all of your maps?

Make sure that you have started up in OS-9. Don't boot OS-9 from within OS-X, that will still give the error message. If this isn't the problem, let me know.

Not yet, but I didn't think that would make a difference. The Dialoge in the Generate map pictures function states "This will automatically create a preview of all the maps found in the maps folder of your game project thatr don't already have one. The previews will be saved in the 'Location:Location pics:' folder" It doesn't say anything about locations. I willl try making a location for each map and see if it fixes it.

Having a map location for every map hasnot helped Coldstone Generate Map pictures.

If you'd place a map in a .sit file and email it to me, I'd be happy to take a look. But only if you want. I'll be happy to try anyway.
Try converting everything to PICT/PNG. Also try making new maps and trying each graphic individually (if you don't have too many...) to see if they are the problem. Also try using your non-backup with the classic environment (if it works...), NOTE: not actually booting into OS 9. Finally, when you generate the pictures make sure that you have the privledges for your locations -> location pics folder and that it is not locked.
If it still doesn't want to work, take your computer and throw it on the floor, then smash the monitor...
(For liability issues: don't take that last sentence seriously anyone out there. That definetly will not help you solve problems with your computer )
