The game that I am making for the CRC Mag Tutorial keeps crashing when I try and start a new game. I have added an engine call for new game in an event link. I have also added the Main event with a map position and teleport. but every time I click on new game the game crashes. I need to fix this soon as I am currently writing the tutorial and I want to release the first issue on friday. I have just started using OSX if that helps at all

I think you were the one who told me to use the "main" event from the medieval game in my game instead of making my own ;). That might be the problem, else I dont know...

I tried the main event from the medievil game. i also tried to create a build for classic to see if it was just OSX. it didn't work but something interesting did come up. it said that it had been made with an unregistered version of coldstone. I just registered coldstone last week so I don't know why it is coming up. I still need help with the crash problem.
Fixed it. I named the event link for a new game "newgame". As this is reserved it buggered up the game making it repeat the process until it crashed.
If you wish to solve the unregisterred version bug, you need to e-mail good ol' davie and ask him for coldstone 1.0.2.

Why can't they put 1.0.2 onto the website?

The 1.0.2 version is only for registered owners of Coldstone. They don't put it on the website because then anyone could download it, registered or not.

Ummm, Last I cheaked mine still says 1.01 not 1.02 in the about box of Coldstone. I have that unregestered version of Coldstone bug fixer installed too. If I remember correctly, it is called v1.01a.

I now have a problem where the map doesn't render properly. The graphics look odd and one of the houses moves. Is there any way to fix this?
are your ground tiles set to 96 x 96? The default is 32 x 32 and if you use 96 x 96 tiles in a 32 x 32 ground tile map it has been known to screw things up visually.
Edit: Graham, I believe it is 1.0.2. If it really bothers you you can check for a thread by david dunham and he explains it there. Also: Congrats on the 300 total posts!

Ok, thanks for the congradulations. What format of image are you using, Pilky? It needs to be .png or .pct if it isn't then it tends to look all wierd.
Also, it needs to be 72 dpi. (I'm sure you know this, but I thought it wouldn't hurt. If it's 72.1 or some such thing, it'll be funky.)
It's just the graphics that come with the demo (I haven't got the CD yet)

I would check these images anyway. I opened quite a few of these images and it is something like 71.99999 for dpi, so be cautious. This has messed me up on four game projects as of now.

A way you can fix that the fast way is to make an event that consists of just the Refresh command. Save it under something like "playerRefresh.cet" or something, and then go through your player animation and for each frame without a tag, add a "Run Event" and fill in the box for your event name. It moves kind of blocky, but not much of a change.

I know 3 guys named Dave, and I'm sure none of them is the one who can get me together with version 1.0.2. How do I get a hold of the Dave who can?
Thanks. chuck

You need to email ambrosia. I think the address is support@ambrosia.com. As other people have said, only registered owners of CS can get it. I emailed ambrosia a while ago but have not received a reply so I am guessing that I will get 1.0.2 when my CD arrives

Thanks Rubber Ducky. I don't always have enough time to put into mastering the software I have on my machine, but I make time to make sure my version numbers are current. Just in case... you never know when a 7 day spell of free time may suddenly become available...!
