Hi. I got a weird problem... I have created a spell wich will drain hit points from the caster, but only if the caster got enough hit points. So I clicked the "only allow to cast if" button to set up a conditional event, and guess what! Coldstone closes down so I open it up again and click the button and it closes down again! (GRRRR) but I dont give up!!! I try one more time and, well... I bet you could guess
Anyone got a clue why this happens??

Wow....not sure why this is happening. This sounds like a job for the 'Help is on the Way' board.......maybe you would want to poke your head into that forum and ask there as well?

First delete your coldstone preferences.
If you are still experiencing this problem then try reinstalling coldstone. Make sure that you delete the preferences this time also.

I have a similar problem with items. If I create a weapon and want someone to have a certain amount of strength before they can use it, then I will click on the "Condition for Equip" button. Sometimes I click on the "action link" button instead. So when I close the event box and click on the right button, then coldstone will unexpectedly quit. I have not yet tried reinstalling.
EDIT: And when I try it the second time around, it works just fine. Go figure. ------------------ Boo! Did I scare you? No? BOO! How about now? Good!

Well, this may sound stupid but... Where are the preferences files in os X? I have looked around on my hard drive but I have not found them:/

They're in your /User/Library/Preferences/ directory. Good luck!

Unfortunately this is a known bug. This affects me as well.
Typically if I start up Coldstone and go right to the spell section and set up the conditional events then everything works. If I do other things and then go to the spell section and click that button then Coldstone crashes.
It is quite frustrating and has been reported. Feel free to send in another bug report though.

So there is nothing I can do to make it work then? Damnit...
Thanks for the help anyway!

Well, as I said, what works for me is to completely shut down coldstone and then restart it. As soon as it loads up go directly to the spell section and set your conditionals up. If I do anything else before that then the error occurs and Coldstone crashes.
You may have to reboot your computer. I don't recall if that was necessary as well or not.
Good luck!
Thanks, if I restart coldstone and do it first it works

Annoying, isn't it?
even more annoying is the lack of an update to fix it

Well, Pilky, from what I hear:
The last I heard from Ambrosia was that Beenox is indeed still trying to do an update, but the current problem is that the Coldstone editor (not the game engine; just the editor used to make game data), which is built with RealBASIC, apparently fails to compile under the newer versions of RealBASIC (which would otherwise fix many of the bugs in the current version of the editor).
In short, Ambrosia can't release an update to PoG since Beenox can't build an update to Coldstone since RealBASIC has bugs. Therefore, once RealBASIC's bugs are fixed, Beenox can fix the bugs in Coldstone and use Coldstone to fix the bugs in PoG.

Original email form David Dunham: Gottya. In looking through my reports, this has been reported to beenox. We have been eagerly anticipating an update to Coldstone to address this and other outstanding problems.
We've been assured in recent days that an update is forthcoming. As soon as I have any news, I'll let you know.
I have gotten this in reply from David Dunham about coldstone not compileing the PC version with music.
