NEW GAME IDEA...

for a name, you could (like they said) mess with the spelling, and call it something like DragynRite, where you have to grow up as a dragon and protect your cave or whatever
or is that too SimCityish?

------------------

The best ideas and games come from something that looks new but isnt. ppl like to see eye candy in "new" games and run around doing things, but to do that you either need to be a god with simplicity and intuitivness or u need to base your idea off of something. I do like your idea tho, it will just need to be refined or precented in a way where ppl think they now wut to do from second 1 of gameplay. as for the name...well i havnt heard a decent one yet save legend of the wyvern or w/e it was. dont mess with the spelling of dragon tho, ppl will inevitably say "well that looks gay" or something like that. Id go with wyvern and the young dragon idea.

Any chance you could provide a link to some info about this (these) game(s)? As I said, I hadn't heard of any such pre-NES games in the series, and I can't seem to find any information on the matter with a quick search on Google.

Don't worry about it, Pink, he'd already been told by Stark in an earlier thread. There's nothing petty about reminding him.

bodadem, you can get lots of ideas from history. The Italian Renaissance was a tremendous time of violence, where a tyrant would kill in order to govern. In early ancient Greece, a guy named Peisistratus killed everybody to take over Athens, but then turned out to be a good guy. Like someone else said, you can grow into your evil ways and need to gain some attributes to take control of your world. You might want to consider needing to deal with angry and fearful people afterward.

In a story, people would care about why you're evil, unless you just want to build a simply violent game. Dragons aren't necessarily evil, but that doesn't mean you can't have an evil dragon.

Go for it!

The latest features if good ideas are always swiped by the competition or one-up'ed. the reward of coming out with good ideas or twists first is great reviews, stature among gamers as to who did it 1st, and money if your idea or "twist" was good enough. go nuts, make your game.

Ever heard of the Mac/PC thing? Totally different.

Sorry, just thought I'd find a chance to blame Microsoft for something. cough evil cough

Hmm, I wonder if maybe you were playing one of the early Ultima games. I think Ultima:Exodus would fit this same description pretty well too...

Ah well, this has gone off topic far enough. I won't pester you any more about it. 🙂
