Yup, I have decided to make a new game. Not a clue what yet, but I'll think on it. Anyway, I am not going to do it by myself. I need some people to help: 1 Person to help programming in Coldstone 1-2 People to help with Graphics 1 Person to do Music 1 Person to do Sounds (Note that if the Music person is able, they can do sounds as well. By sounds I mean, ambient noises, gunshots, etc. However, since I have no idea what the game will be about, be prepared for anything).
That's it for now. IF I get a team together I'll try to work out a storyline. Until then, I'll think on it, but I won't post anything here or start working. The reason for this is if I start something, I want to finish it, and this will be the best way to do that. All who wish to sign up email me at cha0s@evula.org (note my trademark zero ) or post in this thread.

Hey, go for it!
After my first game, which is big, I've got so many ideas, I don't know what to do with them all. While my first game isn't particularly geared this way, I'm thinking about peace and justice issues and really fun educational games. For P&J;, for instance, I'm thinking about a game for 8 year olds on "making really good friends." For girls. Placed at a school, the kid learns about relationships and dealing with bullies.
They may not sell as well as the blood and guts games, but I don't give a rip. So, go for it, Cha0s! You can do anything you want within the boundaries of law and your imagination.

Sounds like the cart before the horse to me. I certainly wouldn't want to sign onto a team and then think "I don't like this project he's chosen." I think you need the idea out there first, then you might attract people to work on it with you. Good luck with it, though. ~RD

The (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/rduck/")Kingdom of Garendall(/url) sectional map is easily printed from gif format pages. Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing.
In business if you are looking to attract investors/partners, you need to start with an idea and make a plan out of it. Draw up what you plan to do, what the goals are, how you intend to do it, what resources you need, etc. You then take this to people and, if they like it, will sign on to it. But no one wants to sign onto a project that A) they don't know what it will even remotely look like, and is disorganized, and C) aren't sure that it will get off the ground.
That being said, the business plan does not have to be rigid. You can certainly allow for changes in storyline, etc. But you need to have a model to follow, which typically means having a base plot. From there, others will have ideas that can contribute. But they need to be focused on the base idea else it will be a large collaberation of differing and competing ideas which isn't conducive to getting a single product out to market.
So I'd recommend sitting down and figuring out the above questions, make yourself a plan for the game(what will it be, whats the basic premise, what do you need) and then either post again asking for help or approach people individually and pitch your idea to them.
Good luck!

I just wanna echo the wise words of Mr. Ducky and that snotty Mr. Bledfast. I had a bang-up idea for 6 months, looking for someone to help before I even found a partner, so don't give up, but do have at least the basis of your game ready so you have something to at least show a prospect.

Actually, you're more right than you know. 'bout this time every year my allergies kick up and give me a full blown sinus problem. Right now there is so much snot coming out of me that I could, well, I dunno, make a snot swimming pool? heh.

Trust me. This isn't the type of karma you'd want to be swimming in.
Just imagine diving into custard...
My problem is that I don't want to be the "boss" persay, but rather have it be a group effort, i.e. the game that we decide to make is agreed upon by everone on the team. The point here is that I want to have the project be completely open... Once a bunch of people get together and decide on something, then restrictions, requirements and organization will set in. If I'm making no sense or you think I should post an idea anyway, I will post something (I have and idea, but as I said, I want other ideas {only from people that would help...not random suggestions}), but I'll wait for you guys to cue (sp?) me first
EDIT: Should I post my Sci-Fi or Medieval idea? Note to people that may want to join: These are not the only options, just te two that I have ideas for. Anyone that joins has a say in the plot.

A team without a boss is simple anarchy and doomed to failure. There needs to be someone to keep everyone on track and focused. Majority rules is fine for the planning stages, but when the excrement hits the propeller there needs to be a group leader to take the reins. Without this there is no accountability nor leadership.
My 2 cents.

Indeed indeed. Someone will be in charge of management, etc. But no one will have the right to say, "You're fired!" (unless we have less than 4 people...) But yes, there would be a "manager" and if others agree, that COULD become a boss, however, that is not the first plan.
EDIT: Ok, enough talking about team structure. Should I post my ideas (which one, or both...), and does anyone want to sign up to help?
I'll help with programming, since out of the others listed I have little talent (art) or little equipment/software (music/sounds) . The one problem I have with making CGE games is with those two (hence the 0 "real" projects I have going ), so with other people doing that, I could devote my full attention to programming. Email me at (url="http://"mailto:poke_freak89@hotmail.com")mailto:poke_freak89@hotmail.com(/url)poke_freak89@hotmail.com
Ok, I'll email you once I get a graphics person (*hint to all you graphics people on the CS boards :)). By the way, HTML isn't working on these boards, so you may want to fix your sig....
Hey Keith...judging by your website, you have quite a bit of talent in the art area....

bobadem: wrong. i'm good at taking several pictures, tweaking them, and combining them into the final project.

See? I can't actually make anything more than stick figures from scratch. Thought I'd correct you on the fact I didn't want Cha0s thinking I was just slacking on him.
