Hi there and welcome to the board. You could make the tree an aggressive npc with no attack animation, so when you chop it to bits the death animation could show it falling over orsomething. Then you could replace it with an image tile that you could walk over.

Thanks for welcoming me...but im not exactly new...look at my number of posts...im only a little short of you..... This would work, but what about changing the access?

What he suggested would work perfectly, because you cannot pass through an NPC, without it moving or being removed...
the NPC life/death takes care of the access issue.

you simply need to place the stamp control in the NPCs death.

... That staples it.

If the NPC doesn't move at all, then all you do is when the tree is cut down, the NPC death event would add a stamp looking like a cut down tree at its location. With the NPC, there would need to be a collision sphere in the animation, so that it would appear to have a blocked acess value.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the board!

Whose cruel idea was it to put an 'S' in lisp?

When revisiting the map you probably have to check if the NPC/tree is dead or not. Or am I mistaken abou that?

Correct. You will want to use globals to determine which is to be placed on the map: the tree or the stump. When the tree is "killed" you will set your global to a value that means it is dead, so that future travels to the map will result in the stump loading instead.

If there is a problem with using a NPC to do this i think you might be able to use an item instead. Make its graphic larger than an underlaying terrain graphic of a stump. Kill the item with the tree graphic, its destruction anim. wud be a falling tree or w/e and then it disapears uncovering a terrain graphic of a stump. Make shure u leave access on the terrain spot so when the item is gone there is access. I'm new to this tho and don't know how well it wud work or if it wud be easier to use a previous suggestion.

Hey DeathWalker, welcome to the boards!!! Just a few problems with your suggestion: 1. You can't attack an item ๐Ÿ˜‰ 2. An item does not have a "death" animation, per say. However, you easily create a stamp in its place that is the animation. Other than it would work ok as alternative. Once again, welcome!!!
