Coldstone update(s)??

I ve seen a lot of wishes and some buggs through the topics here... and people talking about "maybe in a futur Coldstone update"... well... anybody knows something about that? I mean, are the developpers still working on Coldstone and we can get ready for an update, or are we sure that Coldstone will forever stay at version 1.0.1, or maybe nobody knows anything??? (in case someone knows about a futur update, could he gives us any hint about what will be added?? some new features?)
well... with that said :)))

The short answer: No one knows for sure.

The long answer: Beenox said yes, there would be another update. This was a half of a year ago and to date we've seen nothing. Ambrosia recently(within a month) out of the blue mentioned that an update would be forth coming. So it has raised our hopes that someone is working on an update; be it Beenox, Ambrosia, or the guy down the street. At this point I think we don't care who does it.

So yes, I believe there will be an update coming. When? I don't know. I expect that any update will be beta tested first, and to date this hasn't happened. So no clue how far off this is. But keep your fingers crossed.

Shortly before version 1.0.1 was released, Dee Brown promised that "another update should be in the work after that". That was July 25, 2002.

Version 1.0.1 was released on August 8, 2002.

On November 26, 2002, I received from David Dunham the following response to a query I had sent:

Hello-
Just a quick note to say that Dee is working very hard on an update right now.

He and the others in the development team have been going in to the office on weekends to address the issues you mention.

I don't have any timetable on an update, but can assure you it is being worked on.

On March 10, 2003, Andrew Welch wrote: "Dee is working on the issue with Coldstone; we're hoping he will have a beta available for us shortly."

...In other words, a Coldstone update has been promised for some time, but no one outside of Ambrosia/Beenox has any definite information about its status.

I don't know what I'm talking about.
Oh no, here comes another learning experience.

In an email from Ambrosia, dated March 4:
"I'll notify the developer. He's busy currently with an update to Coldstone...."

This email was to a person who hadn't registered Coldstone, but had recently purchased PoG and was reporting a bug. In fact, I hadn't asked about Coldstone or even mentioned it.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for any new features. I, for one, would be satisfied with just the known bugs being fixed.

True. However since PoG was created with Coldstone, it stands to reason that an update to PoG will require an update to Coldstone first(assuming the problem is an engine-related one, and not a coding error).

Yup. The response did mention that the PoG update was on hold pending the Coldstone update.

I didn't email with expectations of an immediate PoG fix... I've worked in the software development industry, so I know updates take time. Usually, they take a lot longer than you would like.

The fact that they really are working on an update -- regardless of when it's coming out -- was part of what convinced us to register the software.

Actually, I have a beta for a coldstone release that in theory fixes that "This game was made with an unregistered blah blah blah" error message at the begining of a compiled game, even though the coldstone app is registered. I would imagine that there is going to be an update soon, because of this recent beta.

Did you get Dee to send you the beta personally, or something? There's been no word at all on the official Coldstone beta list of late... if things are being fixed, that's great, but it's a bit annoying for the "official" beta testers to be left out if this sort of thing is indeed going on.
