I have a "user control" action in my main event, which has keyboard control checked and mouse control unchecked... I hoped this would allow the character to be controlled only by the keyboard arrows, this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone know of a way to totally disable the mouse as a form of movement control? I still need it to navigate the various interfaces... ( I would leave both types of control available, but unfortunately when you click on a bad guy to launch a devastating "energy blast," you cast the spell, then start walking towards the enemy, usually straight into a stream of bubbling lava... shame). Any replies greatly apreciated, cheers.
Migraine.

I'm not sure about the mouse control.
Use "cast" instead of clicking the mouse. (Hit the "c" key.) That way, you don't move toward the bad guy and you can actually move away after you've cast. If the bad guy is out of range, the engine won't cast, but will say that there's no enemy in range.

If the spell's range is "target" then I believe you have to click on the enemy you wish to cast the spell on. As I understand things, using only the keyboard will only work if the spell's range is "enemies" as a specific target is not required.

I think I was a bit unclear, sorry... (or maybe i'm misunderstanding you :)) I need my character to be moved by the arrow keys only, and then have the mouse free to use the map interface, click on enemies to activate spells etc. At the moment both mouse and keyboard control seems to be active, as when i click on enemies to make them the target of a spell the spell is cast and then the character begins to move towards that point. I need keyboard control for movement, and the mouse for everything else
It's no drastic problem, it's just a bit annoying!

Yep, I know what you are inquiring about. But I don't think this is possible.
Sorry.

It is annoying when the player character moves into the face of the foe when casting a spell which requires clicking on the target. My playing work-around is to imediately press the "z" key after the click to place the hero on defense thus stopping his forward movement. I know this is not the "solution" but it may help as a way out. What happens if you hold the "z" key while clicking on the target? This seems to work with some spells and not others. I know not why. ~RD

perhaps you cannot cast offensive spells while physically defending yourself???
