Hello, all.
I was wondering if anyone here was attempting or was interested in a joint-team effort build. I bring this up becauase, as much as I have a desire to create a game, I find that I have several hang-ups. I am experiencing a little trouble creating an interface that I am happy with and I am also at a loss for character animations and NPC/Monsters. I have a fairly substantial grasp on 3D modeling and I have made several map items and 3D buildings and objects. I also have a competent understanding of the Coldstone engine and the nuiances of game creation.
It just seems, sometimes, that the entire task of creating a game I am happy with seems daunting. Making all the animations for spells, creating all the different map tiles for map creation, creating all the different NPC dialogs, movement of the plot in a straightforward yet colorful and creative way. All of these tasks laid upon one person can seem (and truly be) overwhelming.
So, the gist of my topic here is see if anyone out there would be willing to create a joint-venture creation. I am a Multimedia Engineer and I work for a production company and I am production coordinator so I feel confident in designating tasks, projects, and aspects of game creation to those parties involved. A full and fair stake in anything that is created. Everyone involved will be an equal partner in every aspect ranging from simple game mechanics to overall plot and direction.
So, if any of you are interested, please let me know by email.

Thank you.

p.s. I assume this has been tried before. If anyone has any feedback on how those joint-ventures went, please, fill me in on those as well. Thank you.

This is a great idea. Least in my opinion. Because a lot of us feel that we can't do it because it's such a hard task. But I'm interested and will email you. I don't know it this has been attempted before. I know that Andiyar is doing a game with some others. Anyways I'll email you. I'm planning on creating my own game. But maybe helping you will get be motivated to doing more stuff in Coldstone.

Just for you to think about perhaps (please excuse the post if you've already thought about it):
Quite some time ago, I got one of my playscripts published in a book. Now he (the editor) has to send me (and the other playwrights) a royalty check every year as long as the book is in print. He discovered that it's a REAL hassle.

This sounds glorious. I would like to be a part of this, as the music composer. I'll email you.
------------------ Poor little Johnny, of whom we'll see no more, for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4.
Thanks for the input, Debra. I hadn't actually thought about royalty checks but I had given some thought to the possibility of the game(s) being sold to the public. That really isn't my intent to create a "game company" per se but to simply provide an avenue to get people's ideas into a working game. Like I said in my initial post, I want to make games with the CS engine but I simply find the entire process daunting and from the response so far, I know I'm not alone.
This way, FF-fanatic, myself and others will get to see our graphics and gameplay methods in a functional game. Nero will get a chance to compose music for a functional game. I find it extremely satisfying to see personal work on public display and that is really all this is for.
But, if the game(s) happen to make money...I'll be more than happy to mail out royalty checks. More than happy.
-Adam
Hey Asylum.
This sounds interesting. I think I'm up for it. I can do odds and ends, events, flow of the game, or especially maps. I can also edit, render or alter graphics, not quite make, but I think I could be of help.

I'm bumping this topic back up to the top and calling for all those who want to be involved in this joint venture to email me at adam@interactivedepartment.com. After next week, I will send out emails to everyone with everyone else's email so we can establish solid contact. Then, we will send lists of what aspect of game creation we like to do, we want to do, and what we are good at. I want to make sure that every one involved gets a chance to work on the areas that they want to work on.
Thanks.
I would really like to do something like that. I'll send you an email.

Ok, like I haven't gotten an email all day. And I"m dying to hear some news. So I'm posting asking all invovled in this project to give me their AIM or MSN or something. So that I can contact you easier with both my progress and see your progress. Of course you don't have to if you don't want to.
