This is my problem: I make a map, it looks fine in the editor, then I get around to playing my game in the map and the tiles are choppy and some things are out of place. The maps that are included look fine but not mine. What is wrong?

First, make sure all of your tiles are the same size in pixels. Then take note of that number. Next, in the map editor, change the dimensions of your ground tiles to correspond with the noted number.

Ok, where do I find out what the tile size is?
I don't think that Coldstone tells you what size a tile is. Coldstone's tiles are 96 pixels. You'll need to load the tile into a graphics program that will tell you the size. Or, if you make your own and you also want to use some of Coldstone's, make sure it's 96 pixels.

In the map editor's tile browser, if you select a tile it should give the name and size at the bottom of the window.
