What are good ones? I need them to be able to handle my game. I am trying to put little tidbits that people can play by stuffing them into .sit then uploading them on my site. Unfortunately, the file exceeds the 200k file limit by 199k. I am currently using 150.com, and I can't get it on there!
Know any good webhosting services where I can upload my stuffed game that do not require html skills and is free?
Thanks, Bunny
PS I posted this here because it concerns my game, which I am making in Coldstone. I will understand if you move it, although I will be a little frustrated in finding it.

they all suck, the only real way to host games etc. is by uploading them into large ftp mirrors

(url="http://"http://www.evula.org")EVula.org(/url) offers free web hosting, but you need to do your own html. However, learning basic HTML is quite easy. Visit (url="http://"http://www.pageresource.com/")Page Resource(/url) for a full listing of tutorials in HTML, DHTML, CSS, Javascript, and some good resources.

Ah yes, evula, I just went there earlier from suggestion of people at #coldstone. I am waiting for the email that they send me for my account. Thanks for the html link! I could use it. Bunny

I downloaded Freeway to help with creating the site.. It's help making websites (it's not a hosting service) if you have no clue how to do html. So far, I didn't do much except type. I know it will work with evula.org, because Zax used it for his site. I'll just have to figure out how to upload it once my account starts.

Ms. PinkFluffyBunny,
When you create your website, the tool that you use should create a text document with a .htm or .html extension on it. You will then need to have an ftp utility(you can upload/download via web browsers, but they suck, heh) which you can then connect to the ftp site on evula.org. Log in via the ftp utility and you will be able to upload the file you created. When the upload is complete you will be able to surf the web to your web page and be able to view it.
Btw, if you want your website to be the "main" page; ie, what people will see upon jumping to your website, name the file "index.html" and it will be viewable.
Good luck.

I just sign up on (url="http://"http://www.evula.org")www.evula.org(/url) it looks really good. But that doesn't have so much space, and my game is going to be big. Is there a free place that gives lots of space, like maybe a hundred or more mb?

Mr. FF-fanatic,
If your game is going to be that big, and presumably that good, then you ought to spend the money and register a domain name and find a commercial web hosting company so that you can offer your game and sell it online as well. The profits ought to be more than enough to break even on a domain name($20/year) and a virtual web hosting account($15/mo or less for 100MB or more).
Free accounts are really meant for simple webpages("Hi! This is me and my interests, and my favorite color and this is my dog"), resumes, and the like. They aren't really geared for mass storage or commercial uses.
For that much space, you should check out (url="http://"http://sourcecod.com/")sourcecod(/url); for just $50/yr you get 500 megs, which should be more than enough for you.
Thanks for the advise, I'll consider it. But I went and got a (url="http://"http://www.bravenet.com")www.bravenet.com(/url) website. And it's free (though it does have those ugly banners) and gives me 100MB. But I think your right about the domain thing. I'll think about that.
Oh yeah, one thing, what is an ftp utility, and how do I get one? How do I know what ftp is on evula.org?
PFB:
1. go to (url="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com")www.versiontracker.com(/url) 2. search for "ftp client" 3. pick one and download (I like fetch - although I have not tried many others) 4. read the instructions that come w/ the download
All your uploading needs fulfilled in four easy steps. Cool, eh?

If you want cheap domain name registration, head on over to (url="http://"http://www.godaddy.com")www.godaddy.com(/url) for the cheapest domain registration I've ever found on the web. They have some really great prices (like $8/yr for a name) and offer free forwarding, too. They offer hosting, as well, but I don't think they have as much space as you are needing, and hosting gets pretty expensive pretty fast anyway.

Grr......I have to resign in to evula.org. Heh. I put spaces in my login name....... :frown: Oh well.
